Flashing Clock - Quick Question

Went to view the car again at the dealers, deposit is down just gathering the cash together now but I have a question. The clock is flashing on the dash. I read on the forum about the flashing being due to a change or addition on the computer system. There doesn't look like theres anything added or changed though. Its from a Nissan dealer so I'm sure they don't know what this means. Could it be due to a routine service carried out by them before selling the car? Or does it just mean the clock needs to be set properly?

Btw took the car for a test drive and I have to say its very nice to drive. Its my first car and its a blue 05 1.4 active soon to have skirts and 17" alloys too

Re: Flashing Clock - Quick Question

a node [electic window switch perhaps]has been changed and the car needs to go to fiat to be proxy alined[resets all the vairious nodes to run together].this will stop the milage disply from flashing.or one of the nodes are faulty, which they, Fiat, will pick up on the machine...........................

Re: Flashing Clock - Quick Question

Probably had flat battery....proxy-alignment as mentioned is likely needed, sychronizes all modules on CAN (FloRenCe actually ) network to send/recieve binary messages at correct time.

Re: Flashing Clock - Quick Question

you mentioned clock, and not mileage display???

If it is the time clock that is flashing, then the time needs to be set, i have to do that each time the battery is disconnected... simple!

If its the mileage thats flashing then it is one of the other answers...

Nice one. I was hoping it wasn't to do with the nodes. Cheers for the answers guys
All I gotta do now is pay for it

Re: Flashing Clock - Quick Question

If the clock (i.e. time is flashing), the time needs to be re-entered via the "My Car" panel or Connect Nav+. This has been caused by a power loss to the instrument cluster (e.g. removing battery).

If the mileometer is flashing (i.e. the bit that says "25000mi"), this is due to the nodes on the Stilo's CAN network being out of synchronisation with the body computer. A proxi-realignment is the only way to cure this, and it must be done at a FIAT dealer using the Examiner.

Sorted

True, but if you read BBS's post, then both flash when he disconnects his battery. Mind you, I think he’s still waiting for his keys to return from a parallel dimension which might explain a lot

(just kidding!)

Mileage flashed when disconnected the battery? That shouldn't happen . . .

My odometer had flashed twice: both when starting without a complete ECU checks, but after a restart it cures and hasn't been back again.
Now I wait for the checks to complete before starting engine.

Yes, obviously the nodes are out of alignment in these instances; yet another reason to wait for "Checking . . ." to go out

....and has been said before

If you have a race with the car to see you can put your seatbelt on before the Stilo finishes its checks (you'll almost always lose) then you don't have to wait anyway.
