Go Faster Stilo

I've recently bought a Stilo Dynamic 1.6 16v but wondered if I could make it go a little faster but not costing too much.

I've heard that if I fit an aftermarket air filter I should see a slight increase in performance.

Can you techie people out there give any advise to a beginner?

Thanks,
Lee

PNL got a fair performance gain in his 1.6 and there's quite a lot of info in these pages so it's worth searching. He will no doubt come along in a bit and offer some advice. Welcome to the forum btw.

A re-map by Angel Tuning. Getting mine done next week. There are a couple of threads on here from happy recipients...

Thumbs up Re: Go Faster Stilo

Yep, a Remap from Angel Tuning, give Nige a bell, book it in, £235 and about 90 minutes later your Stilo will drive like it should have out of the showroom, it's well worth it........................................

Yes I have a 1.6 that is turning out 120 bhp I shall;; now endeavour to explain why but at the same time I must say that in know way am I besmirching or intending to run down any other tuner on this forum everyone to their own I even told twinncams where I had it done when he contacted me the day after I had my car fitted with the induction and remapped [his choice off course] .
Now firstly let me tell you that the induction I have fitted is the prototype for the car and mine was used for development of it ..this alone gives you actually MORE bhp on its own than any remap in my case my car on its first run showed 117bhp and finally settled down on subsequent runs at 113bhp this is due to hot air which is a well known engine performance killer to complete the modification the car was then remapped which means parameters like timing /spark/fueling etc are altered although I must stress here that the fueling issue is also covered by the ecu automatically due to the increase of cold air flowing from the new induction so now you have it and as you can see it was the actual induction that gives the bigger boost the remap is the added bonus to the package I will also say to you don't be tempted to fit a lesser filter kit as it was PROVEN that the K&N induction on the car actually takes away a performance gain for example an abarth on the dyno fitted with the K&N kit ran at a lower bhp than bog standard others abarths so ther you have it all you need to do now is decide what you want to do the choice is yours and once again I reiterate I do not intend to influence any one on this matter the choice is yours .. good luck with the tuning WHATEVER you do If I can help in any way then feel free to PM me

Re: Go Faster Stilo

well said guys..... like explained above, search around the stilo sections there has been loads of threads recently about this subject! Dont settle for a lesser filter as most aren't worth the money. Go for a remap you wont believe the difference it makes to the car

and i had the same induction kit as PNL but for the 1.8, which is only the 1.6 block but bored out more and i got around 144/145bhp on various RR runs with the filter fitted, then like PNL has explained i then had the remap! I would highly recommend the induction kit

1.6 and 1.8 are totally different engines with different blocks. 1.6 is based on old sohc 8 v engine originally fitted in the 128 and Uno.
1.8 is based on the 8v twin cam as originally fitted in the 124 in 1966. Hope that clarifies things.

Andy.

sumplug,
Really? Are you sure?
I thought the Stilo engines were all of the Super-FIRE type?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fiat_engines

It's a bit confusing though, since the 1.6 or 1.8 engines aren't mentioned anywhere!
