Yep, 9.8 is latest version, although I reckon an update must be due soon ish.

I never had a setup disk with mine [I bought it second hand] - my local dealer wanted an arm and a leg for it, so I got someone on here to burn a copy for me - works a treat.

You will need the setup disk to change the language after an update.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Hi there. I have just bought (day before yesterday) a 2002 Stilo Abarth. I love it! I am still learning how to work the Connect Nav+ console though. It says it is version 8.3. As I am in New Zealand, the GPS navigation wont work - I don't believe there are any map CD's available (I have emailed Fiat NZ to confirm this). With this in mind, is it still worth upgrading the firmware version to 9.8? And if I do, I don't have any setup CD.......but there is a function in the menus to change the language - even has little flags - does this mean if I do actually decide to upgrade that I wont infact need the setup cd?

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Hi

I think you will deffo need the setup CD - as soon as you do the upgrade from 8.3 to 9.8, which is worthwhile, the VR goes back to Italian, or something - when you pick English to turn flags back, it then requests the setup disk.

I may investigate a bit further, and see if I can do an iso .zip file of it, and host it on here - it does all depend on the filesize.

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Looked at Navteq site, who supply the disks - says Europe and North America only

Re: Connect NAV+ 9.8 upgrade CD

Yes - I checked out their site too - I guess if I can't use the Nav+ in New Zealand, there is only one thing for it. I will have to move to the UK. Hehe.
I have emailed Fiat NZ about the setup CD (among other things), so I will look forward to a reply tomorrow - being Monday....(wishful thinking?)
The car is great except for a couple of things I haven't worked out yet - I can't work out how to make the mp3 player work (I have posted in the relevant forum), and the cellphone wont work either (will talk to Vodafone in the next few days). My alternator belt appears frayed somewhat.....apart from these, I love driving around in a relatively inexpensive vehicle with all the bells and whistles you could poke a stick at. I thank a good friend for stopping me buying a Toyota Altezza and making me drive (and fall in love with) the Fiat Stilo Abarth 2002.

Re: firmware upgrade

Reverted to radio settings?

You need to unzip the 9.8 file, and burn it as an ISO using Nero, or similar. Also ensure ignition is on MAR setting, to enable NAV+ to upgrade the firmware. Are you on Nav OR Nav+?

Also, you need the setup disk to ensure VR language not Italian.

Re: firmware upgrade

Hi

Ok, NAV+ comes with a massive LCD screen, NAV doesn't. You have NAV+ by sounds of things [look in my Gallery for a picture to confirm, if not].

The disk needs to be inserted into unit. Then turn off car, wait a while, switch ignition to MAR iirc and turn on unit. The disk should then install the firmware - you will know whether it was successful or not - there is a thread on here with pics, which I will try and find later.

Upgrade just makes the front end look better - you should see a few subtle changes from 8.3

Re: firmware upgrade

I guess what you've done is create a data disk with the cn98.iso file on it...

That's not the way it works though...

What you need to do is write the ISO image to disk with Nero for example...

Just use File --> Open and open the cn98.iso.

Then it should be ready to write the disk..

What you get is a CD-ROM with a couple of files on it.

Just insert that into the CN+ then and voila...

Best,
Lars.

Re: firmware upgrade

Well, I don't know if Nero Express can burn ISO images. Try the full Nero or maybe WinOnCD or something like that... That should work.

Re: firmware upgrade

Scrod,

Just checked Nero express and yes you can burn iso's. Just need to select the iso format and you should burn the file onto cd.

Stan..

Official website is www.Navteq.com - about £150 or so iirc [edit, 135 Euros, lol]

Unofficially, free

Re: Connect nav +

Hi Bennyboy66 you have to talk nicely to some of the people on here who have "access" to the updated versions.

If Pongo sees this he may be able to help you as he has me

If you still have the registration card for your Nav disc you may be able to get an upgrade CD by calling Navtec. Otherwise Stuart is right, around Euro 135 each (actually about £100) to buy officially.

Have you updated the Connect software to the latest version of 9.8 yet? Again Pongo can help here.

Let me know if you don't get any joy.
