kocking with supersprint

hey all i have a 1.8 lowered on apex springs -40mm drop, with a supersprint dual oval backbox. This is really doing my nut in now, whenever i go over a bump or in a dump (passenger side) i hear knocking from the rear of the car and middle. I was wondering if anyone has had or has the same problem with this backbox and lowering?

Re: kocking with supersprint

lol, cheers bud, was no knocking with the standard backbox, car was lowered before the supersprint was fitted.
Had it fitted by a local garage close to me.
I know its an easy enough job but i just didnt have the time myself

Cool Re: kocking with supersprint

Well the box has it then ITS THE BLOODY BOX you need to get under there when the engine is warm and exhaust can cook an egg what people don't realise is with stainless is it grows [yes i did say GROW] WHEN IT GETS VERY HOT AND THEY HAVE FITTED IT COLD AND HAVNT ALOWED FOR EXPANSION AND GROWTH so it will need realigning clear of the bodywork at the rear

Re: kocking with supersprint

i think phill has pretty much hit the nail on the head... if you could get a groove cut out of your bumper like mine, i would say this would solve your problem. Is it bottoming out or hitting the bumper thought?

you should come to the "next" tune meet sam, come over to SS and u'll see what i mean!

How you getting on with the induction!

Re: kocking with supersprint

I used to get a knocking from my exhaust, turned out to be hitting the suspension arm, and that was with an exhaust that was designed to fit the car

Re: kocking with supersprint

just noticed it and it seems that is the problem here, the actualy silencer box part is so close to the corner of the suspension arm.

Cool Re: kocking with supersprint

There is a back mounting that screws to the floor there Sam slacken it off and turn the box away from the suspension I had similar problems with my limp dick although mine is a custom built exhaust he didn't leave enough space when expansion took place and in the end I had to take it back and he altered it while it was hot
