Replaceing Header Console Bulb

Hi there,

The central bulb on my header console(the dimmed bulb) does not light anymore. I think I have to change it, because the two projectors on the header console are fine and also the back roof console bulbs light fine. So should not be a fuse problem.
When I say header console, i refer to the central rear mirror console also called by some the overhead console, where alarm's volumetric sensors, alarm aerial and mic are located.
As I have read on the forum I undestand that are some sort of clips that keep the console still. I tried to remove it but with no success. Could somone that managed to remove the console without any damage post some pictures or at least describe the procedure, maybe some schematics?
If I damage the clips, the volumetric sensors will go nuts and the alarm will allways go false positive.
I colud not find any info on the elearn also and my book is in german. Maby I didn't know what to search for on the elearn.

This is the third bulb that I have to replace in 4-5 months. Is this normal for fiat stilo? I had to change a brake bulb, a right front bulb and now this one.

Re: Replaceing Header Console Bulb

If you have the alarm, you need to pull the alarm console down towards the floor, not towards the back of the car. The clips are on either side, and if you get your fingers in between the console and roof lining it should come off. Then it becomes self evident.

Re: Replaceing Header Console Bulb

It can be quite tricky to remove

I use a wooden letter opener on mine which I slide between the trim and the cover.

Re: Replaceing Header Console Bulb

So, in fact the console is made by two individual parts, the front one that holds the three bulbs and the backside one that has the alarm disabling buttons and the volumetric sensors.
I tried to put my fingers between the roof and the plastic alarm console and grab it down, but I was afraid I will damage the clips and I will not be able to fix it back to it's place in the end.
Is it safe to just put something between the roof and the plastic console rim and force the console down until the alarm console will become loose?
I hope i wont broke it
Can any of you that already did this make a very basic drawing in paint or something ?

Re: Replaceing Header Console Bulb

As I've said before it will come down if you force it. Even if you bend the springs you can always bend them back. It's the roof lining you want to be careful of as this could easily get marked which is why it's best to use a flat blade (wooden or plastic). Dead easy once you've done it a few times.
