Mintex brakes.

Mechanic told me that I will probably need to replace the discs/pads in about 6 months time. Looked on ebay and saw Mintex box sets going quite cheap.

Are these any good or should I stick with genuine Fiat parts?

Would they interfere with the ABS?

Mintex are a good reputable make you havnt said ow much their selling for have you checked out if you can get the same deal from a motor factor there by saving you all the hassle with flea bay ? shouldnt affect the ABS not everyone fits oem parts I use EBC greenstuff pads on the front gives me much better braking than ordinary pads you also might want to consider this as well now that your doing it

Re: Mintex brakes.

The Mintex pads are better than the crap that Fiat fits. They perform better and are of higher quality. I fitted them to mine.

They were about £20 inc VAT for the pads from my local factor, so MUCH cheaper than Fiat OE too.

Only issue is that they can squeal a bit more due to the compound difference.

Apply plenty of copper slip to the REAR of the pads (NOT the friction contact material) and along the sliding faces of the caliper. All is well on mine since doing this.

Re: Mintex brakes.

Cheaper than Fiats, cost me £55 for all round pads from a local brake shop; very happy with them, though grease those bad boys up!

Re: Mintex brakes.

75 quid for discs and pads for the front end sounds like a bargain then, but I was unsure as to whether or not Mintex were any good.

Should I do the rear discs/pads at the same time?

Really appreciate your advice folks.

Re: Mintex brakes.

If it was me, I'd probably invest in some more expensive discs whilst they need replaceing...definitely do the pads at the same time though...
