Exclamation Re: Help Continuing Engine problems..Revs Lost Nothing coming out of throttle

Could be a coil pack failure (£50.00) part. Make sure you don't buy Sagem coil. Although generally you would get an 'Engine Fault Light'.
Or Air Absolute Pressure sensor, this may just need the contact to it cleaning.
These are very common failures on 1.6 engine. However sounds like coil to me as when my absoute pressure sensor buggered up the car kept stalling and couldn't be driven.
Keep looking at forum and wait for some of the more technical guys to reply, such as Deckchair 5, Numan R or TC?????? (can remember full user name)
These guys get to the cause of the problem 99.9% of the time and are very helpful.
Welcome to the Forum by the way.

To check if it is the coil you could try disconecting 1 coil at a time (when switched off) then restarting engine. See if there is a change in the way the engine runs (only by starting up - not driving around) you should notice a big change but if there is no change then that coil has gone. Could be worth a try before you try anything else!

Re: Help Continuing Engine problems..Revs Lost Nothing coming out of throttle

With a coil pack gone or a MAP sensor playing up it would still rev up so it won't be that (you're getting better though Shminky )

Sounds like your throttle body has gotten confused and lost the plot. Hope it's not terminal. Might even be the accelerator pedal variable resistor but they seem to have been pretty reliable on here

Reset everything by disconnecting the battery negative lead for a few hours and whilst that's happening I would disconnect the throttle body actuator electrical lead blow it out and reconnect it

Reconnect the battery and, fingers crossed, you might get away with it

If not, see if you can try a manual throttle body self learning procedure.
Turn the ignition on but don't start the car or touch and pedals. Wait a whole minute for it to go through its checks. Then turn the ignition off and wait at least 10 secs so it stores the data. Ask the Almighty for forgiveness for all your sins whilst carrying out this procedure

If still not playing ball then its going to be a dealer visit as the throttle body may need to be resynched with Examiner. There is an ECU/ throttle body update from dealers which may correct things for you too

Re: Help Continuing Engine problems..Revs Lost Nothing coming out of throttle

My Misti Colt's coilpack went and it would rev but had no power. Vaguely similar to the above though the problem only got worse.

I would agree that it sounds like a fuelling or ignition problem. Might be worth doing boring things like checking all the connectors to MAP/TPS etc if the above post doesn't solve it.

Question Re: Help Continuing Engine problems..Revs Lost Nothing coming out of throttle

I have been having problems with my 1.8 stilo for months now. When in Idle or when i slow down to change gear the car often dies on me. I took the car to the fiat dealer and they said i had a hole in my exhaust and would need replaced that could be the problem; it may not though. It could also mean your throttle body needs replaced.
I thought this was i bit suspicous and decided to take it to a mate to replace the exhast a bit cheeper than the over £200 i was quoted for the exhaust. This made no difference and for i few months i let it be.

Today i again took it to the dealer and again i paid £40 for a check to once again get an unsure result.

"Checked for vehicle cutting out when stopping at junctions. Checked ECU. Found intermittent Fault listed with a/c relay. swapped relay with known good relay. Road tested. Checked software version on ECU and checked updates. Checked for idle speed Ok. However found throttle body buzzing. suspect throttle body faulty. advise to replace throttle body."

Also was told this may not solve the problem.

I am looking for some advice before i spend £367.77 on a new throttle body 4 weeks before my first child is born.

Re: Help Continuing Engine problems..Revs Lost Nothing coming out of throttle

I have AA cover for part failures (forgot the exact name of the cover). Basically if my car breaks down not only do they recover it but they repair it for £25 excess and i can claim upo 5 times a year. I have had 2 engin coils fail and each ime i just paid the excess instead of thw £98 per coil quoted by a local garage.

I like my stilo but with the problems i have had with it i am so glad i got this cover. Defo recommend it.

I wonder if you are have problems associated with this ‘dodgy’ petrol. My car’s gotten worse since I filled up last week at Tosco’s’. I can’t get it in before this Friday so it’ll have to stay on my drive until then.

Mine starts ok but looses power as soon as I try to drive away, then with a burst of revs shoots off only to shake and jerk violently as I go. I think there’s a big bill in the pipe for me after this one, though if it turns out to be the petrol I’ve still got the receipt!

Mines having the same problem as yours then, and yep Tesco! It was going to go into fiat just a few days before all this came out.. Had to fork out for a new exhaust and it wasn't the main cause! New exhaust though :P But the cars still mucking about!
