Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

I recently purchased my first Fiat, 3 door 115 8v JTD Stilo (which still makes me smile by the heads they turn!) and am considering fitting a 'Dragonperformance' plug-in chip which takes it to 140BHP. Has anyone had any problems with one of these? I'm changing the timing belt & tensioner etc before fitting. Any info would be welcome.

Speak to the professionals; Angeltuning will get you around 155 BHP using a tried & tested re-map. I believe they are going to Gaydon (AutoItalia) next weekend so theu may be doing re-maps on site?

Re: Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

remap all the way! Why have 140bhp when you can have 155bhp

Plus those "chips" usually known as tuning boxes are just a bunch of resistors

Also pete username oldschool does remapping, etc... and i couldn't recommend his services enough. His companys name is GSR engineering

...plus if you wanted to take it further im sure his still looking for a 1.9 diesel to finish developing his induction kits - which are superb

PNL, I know little becky had chipped her JTD but wasn't aware she'd blown the engine. Is this something you've heard privately?

Question Re: Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

Taking it to around 140 should be ok, trying to get 160 upwards is maybe pushing it a bit perhaps.

Re: Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

Hi
For a reliable remap, donīt exceed 155hp. But if you want some fun, with a good remap you can achieve 180hp, like I have on my Stilo. Off course, you have to be soft with gas padal, and need to have more causion with your driving style.

Sorry my bad english. (I'm portuguese)

Regrads

Was interested to see this thread and what happened and went for a search, but the thread 'more power' has no mention of incident or problems, rather the potential for major incident was mentioned

An advert later posted by little becky said car was sold elsewhere rather than blew up did i find the right thread and can situation be clarified, as i would be interested to read it

Here is the thread which Phill mentioned above i think http://www.fiatforum.com/stilo-techn...ore-power.html

Re: Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

Thats how I remember it Apple. Remember the hundreds/thousands of JTD's remapped without issue. They were designed for this sort of output so 155 is well within the tolerances were talking here.

Phil, just browsed all 233 of LB's posts. The car that went bang was an Alfa, something about an overboost valve???, not her Stilo. She went for a Multipla for practicality apparantly.

She did have some Dragon Chip that claimed an extra 40BHP. She did refer to some idea's about taking it up to 190 bhp but Alfanige poo pood the very suggestion. Nothing came of it by the looks of it.

Get them JTD's remapped folks

Re: Stilo Jtd 115>140bhp

Me too, no suggestion of stilo engine blowing to kingdom come when using this chip, as mentioned it was an alfa that blew up

So in my opinion, the dragon chip can be used, but there are better tuning companies available for the JTD

They offer a 30 day money back guarentee so I'm going to try it, I'll let you know how it goes!

That will cover the chip but not anything that happens to your engine should something go wrong. Strongly urge a re-map from a visiting technician.
