Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

I have just bought a 1.9 JTD Stilo and so far I am impressed.
As it had no service history on it and 69000 miles on the clock I figured it had better go for a full service and timing belt change, preferably at a Fiat dealer (at least this once anyway). Well, thank god I had read this forum first and picked up the tip about FiatCare.
I first rang Forward Autos in St Helens who initially quoted £530. I than mentioned FiatCare which the fella insisted he had never heard of and was nothing to do with them. After telling him a number of times I had read it on the Fiat website, he went and checked the site and stated that yeah ok they could do that for £159 for the GoldCare service and £220 for the timing belt change.
I also rang Warrington Motors, who initially quoted £569!!! On mentioning FiatCare, he knew exactly what I was talking about (which makes it worse that he quoted such a ridiculous figure initially), and quoted £159 for the service and £150 for the timing belt! A miraculous saving of £260 on the original quote!
I took my car to Warrington Motors and they actually did an ok job, though trying to speak to someone from servicing can be quite a challenge.

Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say thanks everyone. This forum is a godsend, and I'm sure I'll be back with questions of my own.

Looks like another recent poster just picked up the £150 belt change price

Could it be a case of "striking whilst the iron's still hot!"

Cracking price when you consider even the independents can't match it

Hmmm... hope it's still available when I get to the next service interval! Can't afford to bring it forward as last few months have included new OCS Pad, Rear discs/pads & caliper guide pins (NSR) and now Battery close to checking out permanently at 5 years / 50K - admittedly 32 K of that courtesy of me last 18 months or so
