Same as what happened to my babby when I whacked the Super4's in. Stu's following my advice and doing the same soon

Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

Well, my car was picked up today for its 48k service and MOT [although mileage is only 42k, I have done 12k miles in 11 months] - handed the Super4s to the service manager, who then handed me the keys to the Croma M-Jet 150

Not sure of cost yet - I can't wait

Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

24 month service.
rear passenger side light cluster was throwing up a warning, so it seemed that it was due to a busted ass bulb.
and the rear brake pads were worn so they needed replacing.

I would do the work myself, I quite enjoy mechanics work and i'm qute competent at most of the mechanicy stuff... but i'm not sure how these things are covered on the warranty (and I like having a full service history)

How much were the pads out of interest?

Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

Thats right £40(ish) so include fitting/24k service/vat/bulb £269 isn't really that bad after all.
Not sure of 24k service,£160-180 odd?

Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

Just got quotes for mine - what do you think to this?!

36K/3yr service is £337.68, 3.95hrs labour. However, the service manager said that because most of the items on the list have been recently changed (), it might as well have a low mileage service for £109.85; the only difference is that the Low Mileage service doesn't do the following (in comparison to the 36K service):
  • Replace Air Filter (the part will be added to the bill but I shall fit it )
  • Replace Brake Fluid (shall do myself when I change front & rear brakes)
  • Check Condition of Rear Disc Brakes (I know they need changing, see above)
  • Check Condition of Paintwork / Underbody Protection (it's having it's free 3rd Year Bodywork Inspection anyway)
  • Check / Adjust All Auxiliary Drive Belts (had it replaced when I had the Variator done under warranty with invoice to prove)
  • Visually Check Condition of Timing Belt (see above)
  • Check / Adjust Handbrake Travel (see note about rear brakes)
  • Check Manual Transmission Oil Level

The last point is the only one that I will be missing off the proper service but I can get it changed for £20!

So I've saved £230 - ordered my CN+ antenna whilst I was there, so that's £150 of that gone straight away!

Re: Stilo Servicing - the highs and lows

Hi folks

Haven't posted here for a while - too busy driving and enjoying it

I'm taking my Stilo in for its 24k mile service tomorrow, and have hit a very big problem. What do people make of this.....

I bought my Stilo as a used car, and it had 18k miles on the clock.

The car was originally registered in June 2004, so naturally, 2 years from then should be June 2006 (the due date of the second service).

However, the Fiat dealership I bought the car from told me that due to the checks and servicing they had carried out on the car when the received it (all part of the Fiat used car thing) it wouldn't need its second service until September 2006, or when the car had done 29k miles. I have this in writing!

I now live elsewhere, and am taking the car in for its second service at a different Fiat dealership. It currently has 24,600 miles on the clock by the way.

However, this dealership says I have missed the second service due-date (being June 2006) and as such the second year warrenty will now no longer cover replacement parts, and I would have to cough up myself.

Naturally, I'm angry about this. Not only did the original Fiat dealership put the new due-date and mileage in writing, but my car's computer also tells me the same.

Do I have a case to argue with the Fiat garage doing my service tomorrow? Or has the original garage from which I bought my car done something stupid?

Thought I'd post this, just in case anyone else has/has had the same problem

Cheers
