Post Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

Hi, my stilo 1.6 16v 02 Crankes over bumps and holes.
Rang Fiat to report this, if anyone else has this problem then please report it.
Here is the Free Tel Number- 0800717000.option2 then option 4.
Garage says top of suspension has dryed out ?.
Needs regreasing, will cost 0.7 hours = £55 and some grease.
I think it's a recall, but they say not.
If enought people with the fault report it, it has got to be a fault.
Cheers for any help with this.
Unrealuk.

Do it yourself mate! This has come up loads of times in stilo technical, & TBH everybody does it themselves! All you need is a lubricant spray even WD40.

Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

It appears that unrealuk wants everything to be covered by a recall.

Recalls are issued because of safety related issues.White grease spray better,WD40 will wear of in matter of days.

Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

Whats the hell is cranking? or Crankes?

Stilo suspension creaks a bit when the top suspension joint dries out takes 5 mins to fix it yourself.... alternatively as you say take it to the garage and let them charge you £50 everytime the suspension creaks!

Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

If you report this when taking the car in for a service they might do it for you presuming that your car is still covered by the 2 year manufacturers warranty.

Out of interest does anyone have a picture of where to spray; is in the top of the suspension mountings?

Unrealuk...you remind me of the sort of people that came into Woolies when I worked as a student. They'd bring in old trainers saying they'd fallen apart and I had to point out that they were worn out through normal wear and tear. Some people just didn't get it....

Thumbs down Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

Thanks alot lads, all i was saying is has anyone else had this problem.
i never thought i would get this abuse from fellow Stilo Drivers.
And was told by my local garage that if it was reported by others it would get the recall...
So much for trying to help others.
StiloBoy says do it yourself but you have a lol because i do not know how...
thepottleflump says im like a woolies person, what ever they are ?. and even he does not know where to spray-Out of interest does anyone have a picture of where to spray; is in the top of the suspension mountings? he says.

And No i do not want everthing covered by a recall that is just SILLY NumanR.
I have read and been a member of this forum for over 1 year now, and feel disgusted by your responses.
I joined to learn not to have the pi** taken out of me...

So long fellow Stilo owners, i shall darken your forum no longer...

Unrealuk

Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

No need to be like that, your garage is giving you false information,if Fiat gave in & made everything a recall for every squeak, rattle etc then they would be out of business in no time.Recalls cost alot of money, postage, labour, parts etc therefore safety issues come first.
I thing you will fing a fair bit of sarcasm & harmless fun if you read back,we all get it time to time just bit of fun

p.s. woolies is woolworths

Re: Stilo 'CRANKING' over Bumps.

Unrealuk, let me explain what a recall actually is. Then you can see why what your garage has told you is incorrect.

The purpose of a safety recall is to avoid a possible fault which could cause a safety issue to the vehicle or its users. They are monitored by VOSA and strict guidelines apply on how, and when the safety recall is carried out.

Now there are also service news posted by Fiat, now these are not safety recalls, and are not carried out free of charge, but they highlight concerns which Fiat have found a solution to and include instructions to the dealers of how to go about a repair.

Now however you describe it, the fault you have is not a safety issue, so it will never be a safety recall, even if every person who owned a fiat complained. Your garage has informed you incorrectly.

If I personally have offended you then I apologise. Your comments were made due to incorrect information supplied to you, thats fair enough.
