Re: After market Cruise control

Sorry for dragging this OLD thread up (but active mind you lol), could someone point me to a dealer that will send this unit in the post, im sick and tired of having to drive 30miles to pay, then do the same journey to pick the bloody parts up (as they wont order it unless you have payed for it first, and guess what... they want you there to use the card and wont take the order over the phone..... sucks!!!, just wont use that dealer again). Ive decided to take the plunge and get an alfa cc stalk as my 03 1.6 active has it pre wired, so "happy days", just need the stalk...
thanks
roy

Re: After market Cruise control

Just done the job today, i was wrong i was semi wired and my car has esp (03 1.6).
I used eternet cable to run to the D4 connecter, worked a treat, i had an sigma alarm proffessionally fitted when the car was brand new and i went though the same hole he drilled for the alarm behind the fuse box.
I pulled out the cables from an old ethernet cable (thinking it was only sending signals to the computer body so no point putting anything more heavy duty). and kept the solid colours and binned the white ones, this allowed me to use the outside tubing as cable protection in the car.
I then ran some heavier cable from the fuse box, straight from the cc fuse. All hidden well and looks good. Ive just got to cut the lower cowling into shape tomorrow.

Im soooo shocked that this worked, about time something worked on the car lol.

Thanks for the guide its was A1.. excellent work

basically the same stuff, worked a treat for me, you shouldnt have any probs. I didnt like the idea of using that cable for the supply though (it probo would have been ok, but i just dont trust it to carry any sort of voltage in a moving enviroment), i just used normal looming wire for that lead straight to the fusebox.

Have you confirmed that it definitely works? If so, yay .

And thats odd for a 1.6 Active to have ESP . . . did you get the car new?

Re: After market Cruise control

Hi all,

I have some stupid questions...

I have a '03 JTD 115 Multipla, and I don't know if this hack can be done on it... none of the Multipla (including the new My' ones) have a cruise control option... I will check for connectors tomorrow

Any idea about it ? My beloved Multipla frendly drivers would be happy to know there is a cheap option to add the so much missing & wanted Cruise Control !

My next stupid questions are :

How does the cruise control work? I mean, on an already feeted CC Fiat car, how are you using it ?

About the schematic I've found here :

- does the RES switch is normaly open or close ?
- does the RES switch is bistable or it's a push button ?
- same questions for the other switchs

Thank's a lot about those great knowloedge sharing

Re: After market Cruise control

The main issue you've got, besides all this, is that the ECU needs the necessary programming to be able to run it. Older cars used to use vacuum pumps to achieve constant speed, but newer ones use an ECU program to maintain. This, of course, means that if the Multipla was never designed to have cruise, it might not have the program in it, so it'll never work by conventional means.

Thank's for this precious tip !

Is there a way to know if the Multipla JTD 115 use the ECU or not for it ? Maybe Thru OBDII plug ?

Thank's again !

Re: After market Cruise control

I went to see a wrecked 2003 Stilo today for engine pad, cause i drove over a stone and broke it. This pad was wrecked on this car also, but i saw the cruise control stick and bought it. It cost only 300 EEK (less than 20 pounds). I installed it in less than 5 minutes and its working perfectly. Only the light won't lit. Thanks guy's for the good information..

Re: After market Cruise control

Hi guys,

I'm gonna have a look at my 2004 1.6 Active Sport this weekend to see if its already wired up. What are the chances?

Just to confirm, I’m looking for a white 4 pin connecter next to the steering column, and if that’s not there a brown connecter under the battery tray?

What colour are the wires running to the white/brown connector blocks, just so I can make sure its the right block before I order the new parts!

Cheers

Re: After market Cruise control

I'd imagine the wirings there if it was an optional extra for the car, or am I dreaming with this one? MF, there's a guide for cruise control too, it'll be worth your while giving it a good read.

Re: After market Cruise control

Woohoo my 04 1.6 Active Sport is prewired!

So I just need a stalk set off an Alfa Romeo 147? Part Number for this stalk is 735365522? I take it my local Fiat dealer will be able to order this in for me? Anyone know the cost of one?

Should I order a new steering shroud as well, or is it better just to cut it. Don’t want it looking like a bodge job!

Cheers guys
