| You should always let a car run for 10-20 secs before driving away. Apart from giving your brake, suspension and steering systems a chance to get up to operating pressure, it also gives the engine time to get 'wet' before you load it. I always turn the engine as the first thing I do when I get in, so by the time i'm sorted the car is ready to drive.

| Italian Stallion | That's good advice Dave, I've always done that on my bike and in my car. FIAT Stilo Sport. Pretty Much Bog Standard Really. Rear Roof Spoiler, Sill Protectors, Aluminium Foot Pedals, Eibach 30mm Drop Springs.

| I think the braking think can be a bit odd. I have driven at leat 1/2 dozen Stilos, the last one I had (Fiat UK Demo, I work for a leasing co.), a 53 reg 1.6 Dynamic MW arrived fresh out of the packet with a couple of hundred miles. Th brake pedal was rock hard. No problem, I thought, need a few miles and a couple of hefty stops to 'bed in'. Not so. Over the next couple of thousand miles things got worse, not better. Up to the point of feeling like the pedal pressure was OK and retardation would start, but the pedal would then sink and you would have to press much harder. The daft thing was it never felt like the car wouldn't stop, but it didn't inspire at all. Anyway, I explained this to the dealer (a large Yorkshire based chain), who pronounced the car fit, and patronised me about the operation of the servo. As I know a bit of what I'm talking about, I explained that I knew the servo was working, but it felt like the balance valve was passing no effort to the rear, or getting confused, or both. Anyway, the 'technician' informed me he was leaving the dealership that day. F@ing thanks mate! Long and short is that even though they said that they had done nothing, the car did feel better, and some of the HORRENDOUS flat spots had gone - I hadn't mentioned them.... Which begs a couple of questions. Are there any TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) that I sould know about. i.e Any pseudo recalls (not official as not to cause panic, bit dodgy though), so that the dealer did change something, but didn't say so? Or does the latest software, or just a 'hard' reset of the ECU iron out issues? (Sorry to go on a bit..) Stilo 2 1.6 Dynamic MW with leather, SkyWindow and 17" alloys, Black (Him) Stilo 1.6 Dynamic 5dr Jet Blue 52 Reg (Her) Titch S
