Air Filter

Hi There
I've just joined this siteas I've traded my Fiat Punto HGT in for a Stilo Manual Abarth.
I was wondering if anyone had changed the Air filter in the Abarth?
Did it on me Punto and it was easy............this looks a bit harder !!
Any toughts would be most appreciated !
Great site by the way

Dunx

Re: Air Filter

Hi and welcome to the Forum

I haven't changed it on mine?! Although the OEM airbox has been removed, and replaced with a BMC CDA

Re: Air Filter

Thanks for the welcome !
I was thing of the Cotton green filter that I had in the Punto.
This worked well so I thought I'd try it in the Abarth.

Re: Air Filter

It's not too difficult to do... but unlike most other cars, you change the airfilter from below the car. You have to remove a protective plate underneath the engine.
It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, unless you want to go the same route as Stu and replace the OEM box... then it will take a little longer.

EDIT: Welcome to FF!

Hi dunx - welcome to FF you will enjoy it in here - we are all enthusiasts. Got some expert Techies too.

Co-incidence mate - I also went from the Punto HGT to the Abarth. How do you find the Abarth? Oh hang on - you've got the manual though. I moved to the Selespeed so you will probably have a better comparison. Loved my HGT - it was Tizziano Red but my dodgy left foot couldn't take the heavy clutch any more - do mostly town driving. I would have kept it and had both if funds permitted though.

What spec Abarth do you have - photos would be good.

Re: Air Filter

Hi Everyone !
Thanks for all the greetings !
Nice to know there are other enthusiasts out there !
Thanks for the info on the Air Filter. I thought that might be the only way in under the car !

My car is Met Green Brand new with 17 inch wheels on.
I went for a test drive in the Michael Schumacher one which was fantastic, the handling is far better than the standard Abarth.
Couldn't afford the GP one though !
I'm very happy with the standard Abarth though , the engine is glorious !! only done about 1500 miles so far but its really sweet.
Running it on Ultimate BP as I did with my HGT which really helps and prob change the oil to Selenia Racing soon, as that was great in the HGT. The Air filter is the only other mod I will do as I want my warranty valid!
Compared to the HGT the Abarth is really more of a GT than a Hot Hatch so the handling is not as chuckable , but still OK.
The economy is nearly the same as the punto if you drive it carefully so that doesn't botter me too much.
Got a great deal £ 11499 New inc Wheels and Met Paint so I was well happy !! ( traded in the HGT though )

How do I add a photo ?

Cheers !

Oh yeah the manual box feels better than the HGT and the Clutch is lighter

Re: Air Filter

yep should have a spoiler!!!

you could make the air filter work but you will need some samco angles/straights to connect it all up!!
