does anyone know what is for

my stereo has stoped working so i pulled out fuse 39 and it wasnt blow so i pulled out the stereo to see the back of that and the fuse wasnt blow on that to.but the was a red wire just hanging around does anyone know what is for thanks.
does it pull in to that little bit of highlighted

That blue block is a scotch block, somebody has used one to take off an extra wire from the positive feed.

Oh and the bottom picture, that's a cage lug, it's there for when you fit the stereo, you push it down and it means that the stereo is locked into position.

THen I would start with the following, either use a test lamp or multimetre to see if you have power between the black and red wires (using the metal parts on the connector).

Protection fuse

D 10A protection fuse for radio

Power Connections

A1 CAN B Line Signal
A2 Not Connected
A3 CAN A Line Signal
A4 Connection to +12v Switching on voltage(at car starting)
A5 Radio Aerial Connection
A6 Not Connected
A7 Connection to +12v(permanet) supply Voltage
A8 Earth connection

Speakers

B1 Rear speaker(right+)
B2 Rear Speaker(right-)
B3 Front Speaker(right+)
B4 Front Speaker(right-)

If its got a scotch lock in there it means the previous owners who clearly knows sod all about electronics has been fiddling about!

No, it probably just means he had a Nokia hand free kit fitted then had it removed.
I personally don't think that red wire is anything to worry about. but i would tape it over with insulation tape to stop it shorting on any metal perts of the car.

Then make sure you're using the correct fittings for reinstaling the new head unit (i.e. if you're installing a panasonic head unit, they often use different adapters to the Alpine headunits, which are also different from the blaupunkt ones that it comes with)

I'm also suggesting here that the head unit you previously took out was damaged, hence it not working, and that the new ones just aren't fitted right

Anyone that uses scotchlock blocks should not be allowed near a car! If your gonna do a job do it properly!
