Re: GP Kit on Abarth

Well I'm somewhat gob-smacked this morning. Rang up my Dealer yesterday and asked for a quote for the GP kit. Different parts guy this time who hadn't heard of the kit. Said he would Fiat Auto in Slough to check. Spoke to him again in the afternoon - check this out - GP kit not available for another month and when it is it will be£2500 plus fitting!

This does NOT include the tyres!

Look at the GP brochure underneath. Very badly worded if the tyres are not inc. Reading the text under the Banner "Stilo GP Kit" I assumed naturally that the kit inc the Conti tyres. However the contradictory summary at the foot of page does not mention the tyres. Really good marketing.

Re: GP Kit on Abarth

£2,500 - that is obscene....

Obviously, they don't want to sell any

Re: GP Kit on Abarth

I'm in the process of ringing round now.

FIAT Nottm have quoted (Parts only):
Wheels: £881
Tyres: £606
Springs/Spings: £782
Exhaust: Said is was a tailpipe finisher only???
TOTAL: £2269 (+ exhaust and fitting)

FIAT Derby have quoted (Parts only)
Wheels: £898
Tyres: £619
Springs/Shocks: £799
Exhaust: £280 (backbox)
TOTAL: £2596 (+fitting)

The guy at Derby said that he'd be able to arrange a discount but even so, I doubt they're selling many at this price!?

I'm gonna have a hunt round on the web tonight and see what's the best price I can find going 3rd party.

I'll keep you posted!

Re: GP Kit on Abarth

Neil - log onto Motorsportworld.co.uk - found them to be the cheapest. Just off the A74 below Glasgow- mail order only though. I haven't got the paperwork with me but from memory the total figures were:

Abarth only

Eibachs
BMC CDA
Supersprint s/s cat back system (same as Ben R)
Aprox £812.00 parts only - fitting extra

Plus Remap from Nige at £300

Total £1130 inc £17.60 del charge. Bit more like it eh?

See my PM

Forgot to mention the wheels and tyres are an entirely seperate issue Neil. I have no doubt that they are available at a fraction of the Fiat cost that you have been quoted. I didn't bother about the shox as Nige said I didn't need them.

I think the Fiat 17" rims on your Abarth look great anyway - much easier to keep clean too lol..

I don't know who manufactures the Schumacher exhaust but if you look at Ben's Supersprint system you will see the Supersprint build quality and finish is appreciably better.

Abso-fraggin-lutely! Thanks for all the info - I'm going to seriously look into it - and figure out a way to get the missus to agree! My current best chance is to raise the funds on eBay by getting rid of all my unwanted junk - shouldn't be too hard to raise 1300 notes!

activematt: Yeah, I'm not convinced either and they'll be a pain to clean. I think I'll see how my wheels look when the car's been lowered and then I'll make a decision. Tyres will be cheaper too!

Talking Re: GP Kit on Abarth

Get this,

Phoned my local Arnold Clark the other day they too quoted over 2.5k!! for the package although this was an estimate as it was still unavailable to order at the time. They also said it couldn't be split, so for example I was hoping I'd be able to just have the suspension parts, but no that's not possible.

As lots of people have been saying I think individual customisation/tuning is the way to go. You acheive the same effects or better for a lot less.
