upgrade to dual-zone climate control... navigation?

i'm replacing my hgt with a stilo abarth. in south africa, dual-zone climate control and mp3 player are not even options.

i reckon the climate control makes the interior look much sexier, and i have tons of mp3s on cd now that i still want to be able to use

is it possible to fit dual-zone after purchasing? anybody know where i would go about getting it? what about the mp3 player, or even the nav system? do dealers sell it as an aftermarket option in the uk?

tx

Any MP3 aftermarket stereo will fit (with an adapter), as will an aftermarket Sat Nav system.

As for the climate control: Forget it, there is no chance

It depends if you've got the wiring behind the dash in your loom to power it. Also you will need more than just the dash unit you will need the compressor & hose circuit. I don't understand why Fiat does'nt give these options sounds bloody ludicrus particularly as you live in a hot climate maybe it has something to do with the import taxes or something Fiat might have made that decision on the grounds it might make the car too expensive. The other thing you could try is enquiring about importing a european car.

re: upgrade to dual-zone climate control... navigation?

the car comes with air conditioning, just no climate control.

what extra does the climate control have besides the display etc..? does it just automatically adjust settings that you would normally manually adjust yourself?

is there more to it than just the pretty little screen, some buttons and some sort of processing unit? in other words, would it plug into the same stuff behind the dash or is there different wiring behind the dash for it?

anybody pulled their's apart and know?

I'm not sure the best person to speak to would probably be Fiatech.

Lightbulb re: upgrade to dual-zone climate control... navigation?

... ears burning.

the main difference between A/con and climate control is the auto feature.

Basically it compares outside temp. with interior temp. and works out whether to heat up or cool down the air coming in, based on requested temp.

The problems i think you will encounter will be that dual zone has a different heater box (check on eper) which has different flap arrangement, plus manual a/c wiring would be different due to more input/ outputs.

Also the A/c is connected to the body computer so there would be a configuration problem even if you were to get as far as installing this, as the body computer relays additional info to the climate control such as vehicle speed and when reversing- closes the recirculating flap so not to let exhaust fumes in.

Overall is does not look good, i think you will have to settle for manual A/C in the end, and look for a good aftermarket sat-nav package.

Question Changing Air-Con to Climate Control

Hi everyone. New user. Got my JTD remapped 8 months ago and never looked back. Fantastic.

Anyone know anyone who will convert air-con to climate control like Nigel does the remaps?

Cheers

Re: Changing Air-Con to Climate Control

Hi and welcome to the forum

Is this possible? Probably, but at a major cost - doesn't it rely on sensors and vents to be moved automatically.

I am sure this has come up before - I will go a-searching

Re: Changing Air-Con to Climate Control

i'd been thinking about if its posible to switch the Manual aircon unit to Climate control as well.
Had a car with climate control on holiday and became rather partial to it!

Re: Changing Air-Con to Climate Control

Hi Abarth,

Remapped to 155 bhp, didn't want to get a new exhaust. Difference is amazing now and the mpg hasn't changed. Third gear onwards is fantastic - never knew a diesel could perform the way it does.

Other mods if you can call them that: Fully Integrated Bluetooth Car Kit (doesn't stop the CD though) and Hard Wired Sat Nav Palmtop.

Want to get Climate Control though. Anyone got any ideas how to go about it?

Cheers,

Otis
