Sparky brakes

I was heading home from a friends house late last night and noticed, while braking from 95 leptons for a motorway roundabout, what looked like sparks being kicked up behind the car (it was pitch black).
It only did it when I was braking and after a few miles driving slower but occasionally braking it stopped happening again but I did hear a bit of squeal from one of the rear brakes in between times.

Could this simply be some superheated pad material coming off when I brake, having been heated by a catching pad?

Re: Sparky brakes

Nah not really.
There wasn't as much as you'd get off, say, a grinder.
More like some burning embers flying off a medium sized bonfire.
It was enough to make me drive slower for the rest of the trip home

Re: Sparky brakes

Apparently mine was doing this the other night (my mates behind told me) but the braking was unaffacted...

My guess is it was just a stone caught.....

Just a suggestion but have you checked your rear pads?

Will be doing this at the weekend but I think the fact that the car stopped doing it after I slowed down indicates that it was simply a sticky pad combined with the fact that I'd given it a good workout over the previous 25 miles or so.

The car has had a couple of long stays in the bodyshop and each time it came out the rear brakes squealed a bit so it may be related to this.
I'll probably be ok with cleaning and re-greasing them.

As Jamie86 says though the braking performance wasn't affected
