| Squeaking from rear- fixed! Hi all My Stilo was squeaking slightly from the rear for about 3 months until yesterday when i fixed it Was it suspension I hear you ask? No it wasnt, that had been checked and lubed what have you but still did it. I opened the boot for the first time in months yesterday and noticed the boot lid was rubbing the bumper. I now have a little mark in the bumper(which can only be seen when open), so i aint fussed about that. To fix it I unscrewed the rubber boots on the boot lid slightly and et viola- squeaking has stopped. Its always the simple things. Still cant work out why the dam tweeter wont work tho.

| Re: Squeaking from rear- fixed! unscrew the wubber boots slightly- they need some force, and it shold stop it Be careful not to take them to far or you might not be able to close it! Same principle can be done with the bonet when it is lower than the wing line and not matching the bumper lines

| Re: Squeaking from rear- fixed! Bear with me on this one, it is relevant... The locks on my Stilo starting playing up last week, totally out of the blue. The drivers door wouldn't open from the inside, which was a bit of a shock to the missus (she was using the car at the time)! Thinking the lock may have stuck, she tried the internal door locking switch, but it wouldn't operate the driver's door lock - it would make the noises, but the button (next to the flashing LED) would just wiggle up and down a few times, then give up. Luckily, the passenger side was fine, so my wife could get out of the car! Using the remote from outside of the car was a little hit and miss. The passenger door lock would operate normally, but the drivers door wouldn't respond every now and again. But the next bit is rather bizarre. You can normally operate the door locks using the remote from within the car, well I could. But now the drivers door wouldn't lock at all. It behaved the same way as it did using the door switch, i.e. button would try to move, but fail. But it would work from outside (most of the time). She called Fiat and initially they only offered a slot the following week. She said that wasn't acceptable and due to the nature of the fault, the possibility of getting locked inside the car, or not being able to lock it at all, they 'found' a slot for us the next day, which was a Saturday. After having the car for nearly 2 hours, they called us at home and my wife answered. They reported that the locking mechanism inside the drivers door had disconnected and that it wasn't covered under the 3rd year warranty! They said something about it being a non-mechanical fault and they had noticed I had changed the speakers in the doors and this had contributed to the fault! Anway, the Fiat CSR must have heard me yelling in the background. I was screaming, how the hell can changing speakers effect the locks? Especially since I'd changed them 18 months ago and I'd only prised the door panel open, not removed it and I was quoting the Sale of Goods Act and how the fcuk can a rod/link inside the door not be mechanical? Because she called back 2 minutes later to say they were going to fix it free of charge. (We're nearly there...) While it was at the dealers, I got them to check out the boot as I though it might be responsible for the creaking noises I've been experiencing for the last 12 months. (Something they have been unable to rectify.) The boot seems to wobble too much for my liking while it is open. There's also a scratch on the bumper where the boot has been rubbing. This has subsequently worn away the paint on the boot itself to bare metal and started to rust. (Lower right corner.) They ended up saying the boot needs re-adjusting and offered to make said adjustments and touch up the paint work, but, and here's the shocker, it's not covered under warranty! I asked them why and it's apparently 'one of those things', just like a door in your house may need adjustment. He then implied I had been closing my boot the wrong way! By holding the edges and not the centre. WTF! I couldn't be bothered arguing, especially as I will be getting rid of the car in a couple of months anyway. (Now is the relevant bit.) But lets finish this ( rather long) tale on a high note...They did actually fix the creaking! They replaced a 'drop link' on the rear of the car. I assume this is part of the suspension system. But my parcel shelf still rattles...
