Unhappy GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

Is anyone else having GPS problems at the mo? I don't know if it's the Nav+ or whether the satellites are having a dicky-fit but the GPS thinks that the car is actually 10m-50m (it varies) from it's actual position and sometimes driving in a different direction to where you are actually going!!!

I didn't have any problem with my old car and given that I've only had this new Abarth 3 days, I'm a little bit miffed. The firmware is 9.7 but I doubt one revision behind would make any difference, although I will upgrade it anyway.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

All sounds familiar - I had this problem once or twice. First time Fiat changed the whole unit - second time I just switched it on/off several times and the fault cleared itself. It has not happened since.

Re: GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

DOG: Sometimes I'd have no reception at all (but the nav system would still try and plot a position of the car) and sometimes I'd have up to 8 satellites.

James: I've just upgraded to 9.8 and gone out for a test. It was still way out leaving home but setting a destination for home was okay!?

I'll think I'll give it a few days and see what happens - it could be atmospheric interference I guess?

Re: GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

when you set off check that the sattelite indicator is green. its the small symbol top left on the unit. give it a couple of minutes because it takes this time to calibrate. if it doesent light up the car still makes an effort to keep track, but it is normally off by a bit. if this happens just switch the unit off and turn it on again. i have had to do this a couple of times.

When it was really off the mark, I had a full signal and 8 sats tracking me. Maybe it was just it's time of the month and was having a strop!

I upgraded to 9.8 from 9.7 yesterday. Not sure if this has made any difference but all day today it has been sweet!

Thanks for your input guys!

Re: GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

Hi,

Yes I get the same problem every now and again but it clears up after a few miles. Pongo also had the same problem. Could be the USA screwing around with the GPS satellites.

Re: GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

As Acordis said, I had this problem too. The FIAT dealer said they would fix it under the THIRD year warranty !!
Anyhow, before I could get it in for repair, the problem just went away and hasn't come back yet !

Re: GPS Problems (Conenct Nav+)

I had some interesting results the other day, driving back from work - think it was on Wednesday - according to the Sat Nav, I was driving on some land, just south-west from the tip of Italy, lol - but too close to be in Africa.....I was in the Med

I turned it on and off, unit and ignition, put CD in and out, but nothing - still kept giving me that location.

Next day, system went back to normal - lets blame the US
