Water in Drivers Footwell

Hi - getting excessive water in drivers footwell
Also seem to get dripping from drivers footwell side after the car has had a run.
Any ideas - dealers says the aircon unit is at the passenger side so this can't be the problem.

Re: Water in Drivers Footwell

I would think its the aircon my old man had the same problem with a land rover discovery when that things aircon went wrong near enough the whole floor was wet back and front.

Is it only wet in the drivers footwell and not the passenger as well?

Personally id get the car down fiat and get them to look at it.

Re: Water in Drivers Footwell

Thanks Bob - it is only the drivers footwell. Passenger one is dry and the proverbial bone. Had it into Fiat - they can't find a problem. Said they need to dismantle the dash at a cost of 500 nickers. Not too keen on that as you can understand

Do you usually have the air con on?
Do you have a sunroof?
Does it only happen when it rains?
Do you have roof bars?
Do you have a different aerial?
Is it rain water or does it have antifreeze smell eg heater leak?
Losing engine coolant? Frequently topping up?
Do you always park on the same kind of slope?
Are the door drains clear?

It was a cracked air con pipe fiat finanly agreed to fix it as it was just out of warenty but because they hadnt found the fault previously they fixed it

Re: Water in Drivers Footwell

on a previous car it was the heat exchanger that dumped antifreeze into the passenger footwell. it's a pain of a job if it is this as the dashboard had to come out

Re: Water in Drivers Footwell

Stilo drain for the aircon is on the DRIVERS side, it can be inspected in minutes by pulling off the side panel of the centre console. Not a common problem but its likely the hose has either disconnected itself or is blocked.
