| Clicking steering My Stilo has started making a very quite clicking noise when turning the wheel. Its very minor and doesn't effect driving. Presume its just the heat or the way its going to be from now on!? Anyones steering wheel the same on turning are they all silent. This can only beheard if listening for it! Cheers

| Re: Clicking steering On both, it is something that is very quite, but it wasn't there for the last 15 months! Although temp gauge said 36c today, highest I've seen in car. Its currently not the sort of noise I'd attempt to show a dealer. My Punto had very loud steering wheel on turning sounded like crunching wires and that was OK after 5 years.

| Re: Clicking steering Nothing to do with the temp mate... it's been 35ºC and over for the last month here and apart from the car being like an oven when i get in (i'm thankful for being able to put the windows down before i actually reach the car!!) the car works just fine..

| Re: Clicking steering If the noise you're referring to is a fairly quiet, but irritating clicking coming from the steering wheel housing itself, then it sounds like the same problem I had. The dealer replaced a 'universal joint' in the steering column and the noise went away. The repair was done under the warranty. Sorry I can't be more specific about the part, that's as much as I know.

| Re: Clicking steering I'll wait and see if mine gets worse as the technician would have trouble hearing it at the moment! I know they'd say what noise! pc99 was yours really quite how did tech hear it? Or was it quite easy to hear? Cheers

| Re: Clicking steering The noise was audible with the engine idling and the stereo off. The engineer heard it straight away. It was more noticable spinning the wheel clockwise than anti-clockwise.

| Re: Clicking steering I had a clicking steering problem , quite loud plus I could feel it through the throttle pedal - they diagnosed the UJ as worn and replaced entire steering column under warranty, but it didn't fix the problem. After a close look at the car they found they could stop the click by greasing either end of the steel tube that the brake pedal is mounted on. No idea how this fixed it, but it did! The other possibility is the UJ can catch on the trim under the dash if it isn't clipped in properly. If you look under the dash on the floor to the left of the clutch pedal you'll see where the steering colum enters the floor and the UJ is. Even when trim is clipped in properly there is very little clearance between it and the UJ Hope this helps Paul
