Inaudible indicators

Ok Next job. Any hope of making the indicators audible? When I changed the relay on a Bravo with a Hellfroids one the new one was much louder so is there a normal type relay on the Stilo and where is it located pretty please?

Unnacceptable answers are "Its a computer generated noise only resettable by a dealer internal examiner with rubber gloves"

Re: Speaking of rubber gloves...........................

I thought the indicators were fine loudness wise, but then i don't usually travel about with the stereo blaring.... also the flashing green arrow is a dead giveaway... mind you i note most folk drive about and never look at their dash (case in point folk driving off when its dark but in a well lit area with no lights on).

If the indicator relay clicked loud enough I could find it by ear. We are not stupid. So I will find it in the end whether you talk or not. However if you refuse to supply the information we need it will not be pleasant for you.

Nurse, the screens! (Click, humming of transformer)

Now, last chance! Where is the indicator relay located?

Re: Inaudible indicators

No relay fitted, all done by the body computer. I totally agree that the flashing arrow is a giveaway but so is the fog light warning on alot of cars but it doesnt stop most of the country driving for three months with the rear fogs on every winter.

Re: Inaudible indicators

Dashboards differ and the warning light is hardly visible on mine on sunny days. Just can't hear the indicators at all, that's with radio off and windows up.

So what makes the sound? If it's computer controlled then is there a piezo type speaker or something?

Re: Inaudible indicators

Several dealers have made buzzers and wired them in to the indicators. Personally I have done it and think it is really irritating, but the customer wanted it.

Re: Inaudible indicators

I had a megane for a while and the steering wheel obscured most of the warning lights on the dash and all the central locking and defogger switches. who lets these things make it on to production cars!?

also on the old type bmw 5series, if you put a cup in the cupholder you can't use the heating controls.

oh yeah in the hyundai Elantra you can't put the car into reverse with the handbrake on cos it's in the way!

I agree that the warning lights in the dash is difficult to see in sun light.

But the indicator sound is quite loud in mine, i have no problem hearing it (at least with no radio on)as its much louder than in my old Punto. Maybe they changed something on the newer Stilos or there is a problem with yours.

Re: Inaudible indicators

Well that's what I'm hoping, that there's something wrong with mine. On a few a other forums I notice other Stilo (usually 1.6 engines owners) complaining of the same thing.

On the Bravo, when I had to change the flasher relay there was a huge difference in volume even though I didn't want it then.

But on my Stilo it's inaudible. I shall be investigating!

Strewth when I put the AC on then there's going to be no chance of hearing it.
