| Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! My map display has just gone completely bonkers and as you drive the map just spins around your present location. I can only assume that something has worn/dropped off the front wheels which is used in part to calculate your movement relative to the map/satellite position. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be (and cost) as my car is going in on Monday for new discs and pads (80% worn so may have just knackered a sensor or something!)

| Banned | Re: Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! No sensors on the wheels mate as your position is tracked by satellite. Could be a software problem or a problem with the CN+ itself( I hope not) best bet is just to get your dealer to have a look. What software are you running?

Thanks: 38 Trader Rating: (0) Drives: | Re: Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! Ok, if you had an ABS problem this would effect the SATNAV as it uses a speed signal from the ABS to establish how fast the vehicle is travelling and also for the countdowns to junctions, (by the way these are much more accurate if you have the measurements set to metres).Unfortunately if the speed signal is faulty it reverts to a slightly less precise operation but still works. Are you sure that you havent just reset the map display? You can have the map displayed so it always faces north so the arrow turns in relation to the direction you face OR you can have it so the whole map rotates and the arrow stays static pointing upwards. I would check this if I were you.

"The SAT NAV" does take signals from the wheels" Meaning that the Nav+ system does take an input from the rotation of the wheels to aid in accurate positioning.

| Re: Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! It's got to be something on the off-side as the map updates perfectly when the latitudes change. Since the map just spins anti-clockwise around the current position I'm assuming it's the off-side sensor in the wheel and the car simply thinks I'm constantly turning in a circle. I've only just noticed the problem and since it was in for its service the week before last, and it's going in again tomorrow to have the brakes done, I think they (hopefully) forgot to plug something back in. Fingers crossed it's nothing major and something they've forgotten to do as my service is already up to £850!!

Thanks: 38 Trader Rating: (0) Drives: | Re: Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! If it rotates only in one direction it sounds like a unit fault which may be possible to fix using software update. The wheel speed sensors are used via the abs only for speed signal not direction, for that it uses the onboard compass.

| Re: Nav+ Gone Bonkers!! Phew! All sorted. Could have been the software - now updated to 8.3 (not latest, but better than 7.4 I had before) plus new discs and pads. Even the rattle from the front suspension I've complained about for the past three years (with numerous attempts to fix it) has stopped. A result - I'm well chuffed!!
