(T) Reverse gear

Anyone had problems with the reverse gear banging back out of reverse
the noise is a really loud bang ive had the car 2 months and it only happened last night
anyone shed any light on this

forgot everyones out today its booked in for thursday now

Could be that it wasn't quite in gear fully, it can pop out with quite a bang if this happens.

more than once tho thats the thing and it goes for a bit if u let it really crawl

latest is fiat have had it all day done fook all with it and want me to book it in so the can strip the gear box down!
its done 2000miles the is no way the gear box should need stripping down IMO.
it was that bad yesterday i cudnt even crawl out of the space at college had to let in roll and that took ages

latest is 10 days for a courtesy car
what is my best option phone up saying il never buy a fiat again if you have to strip the gear box down at 2500 miles and dont have a replacement car for 10days this must mean fiats are full of problems etc.

So is car still driveable in this time? Or barely.

Ian your logic is slightly flawed, if the gearbox is the problem then it might be better for a new gearbox to be fitted, especially as the mileage is low. Maybe it might be better to speak to the dealer and ask about this? This also allows you to know for sure that you would pick up the car the same day you left it, with as little inconvenience as possible to yourself.

i dont know where i stand with it, am i right to say swap the gear box? how will i know the have, id rather hope the dont just drop it in and i drive away in too short of a time to be honest, the last one was new but that didnt do very well. i will have a play around with the courtesy cars gear box

Speak to the dealer and ask.

goes in monday i get a punto 1.2 8v and its costing me money to put it onto my insurance - phoned service manager and he said he can only knock it off next service likely story

well i have had my stilo from new and in august 2003 the gearbox exploded on me whilst driving down a bypass was doing about 65mph it took fiat 6 weeks to get it sorted, anyway got my car back all good and felt as good as new a couple of weeks later it started jumping out of reverse and did not like going in to 1or 2nd gear so back it went to fiat they said the syncro had gone!! so out the new box came and they sorted it for me withnin a week, well a year has past and i have had no probs with the car really well apart from one of the coil packs dieing on me untill 2 weeks ago i was driving along the road and a loud bang happened and i lost all drive so pulled in and found my gear box had exloded again leaking all its oil over the road, so now i have to get it fixed again, whats better its now not under warranty so its got to come out of my pocket and im really happy!!!!!!

well its been in a day and half now hope the realise i want it back tonight

got the car back
aint reversed it so dont know if its any good
but things out glove box were on floor and the car was covered in crap inside and out
