Brake Pedal Sound effects

Have only noticed this in the last few days. If you depress the brake pedal smoothly then no sound, but if you have to step on that pedal or you press it slightly with a fair bit of pressure. It makes this strange sound, sounds like a piston being compressed starting with a dull click/thud. It sounds like it is coming from the middle/passenger side of the car. Probably just something needing lubed, anyone had this problem?

Im starting to think the stilo has its own repetoir of "perfectly normal" sound effects. Shes still my baby tho

Re: Brake Pedal Sound effects

Does it have EBA(emergency brake assist)? Could be something to do with that if it does.

Re: Brake Pedal Sound effects

Im not sure, its a 54 1.6 active sport. I found another thread referring to this as the brake acutator, sounds pretty similar to my problem specially as it sounds like its coming from the passenger side. Guess i'll find out on monday...not looking forward to arnold clark getting their hands on it

*edit* Changed my mind about the dealer as the first port of call. Im gonna take it to the mechanic that kept my fiesta on the road and running like a dream for 4 years. Im going to get him to look at the minor things. And if it is anything more than something needing lubricated/adjusted then i will get him to write me a report i can take to the dealership. And he will check it when it comes back. It will end up costing me a little money but if paying a little saves the dealer getting their hands on it i think i am willing to pay a mechanic i trust! And keep the warranty for the major ****!

I've been out for a drive tonight and i am almost convinced that its the brake actuator needing a bit of lube, it doesnt sound like a fault. Just sounds like a moving part thats a bit dry.

Re: Brake Pedal Sound effects

If it's a 54 plate won't it be covered by the warranty. I'm sure you know this already but you have to be careful about letting other people work on your car when it has a warranty. Knowing most dealers if they find out you've had someone else look at it they might refuse to carry out any work on it in the future. (which might not be a bad thing lol )

Re: Brake Pedal Sound effects

I checked this with fiat on friday, as far as the warranty goes, as long as the mechanic is vat registered it won't affect the warranty. The problem i have is that the main dealer around is awful. Arnold clark are known for ****ty work and causingmore problems than they fix. But i have a list of fiat dealers around glasgow supplied by fiat customer car which i can use for my warranty. The important thing to remember is that the warranty isnt with the dealer its with fiat so you can go to any fiat dealer/service centre.

I have a warranty and i want to use it BUT im not putting it into arnold clark for them to destroy up my baby. I might try reg vardy fiat in glasgow i have friends who have said Vardy have sorted their cars quickly and without any hassle.

Besides i dont think its actually anything serious thats wrong :P So i might just leave it and see what happens.
