Remap/Chip for Stilo 1.6 16V

Hi Guys and Gals

My first post on your excellent site. I'm trying to extract a few more horses from the 1.6 lump in my wife's otherwise excellent Stilo 3-door. Contacted numerous chippers and remappers, but getting the same response from them all - "No, can't be done". Has anyone out there managed to find someone who will remap this car?

Hi and welcome to the forum

There are plenty of posts/threads about remapping on the 1.6 - not an easy option, I am afraid. Sorry.

Don't quote me on this but if the 1.6 is the same engine as the Bravo I think Superchips do an Eprom chip upgrade for it. www.superchips.co.uk

Re: Remap/Chip for Stilo 1.6 16V

its pointless to do a remap on NA engines, though in turbo engines you get your moneys worth. only if you have done a considerable amount of mods beforehand on your NA , so you just optimize it. Especially in engines with little ccm and high bhp already. itll only strain the engine and your bank account and you will gain little in return.
swap it for an Abarth

Re: Remap/Chip for Stilo 1.6 16V

As I said before, a remap on an Abarth is also the way forward, especially if you include the CDA as well.

It totally irons out all the flat-spots.

Don't forget the exhaust that'll give you extra ponies as well.

Re: Remap/Chip for Stilo 1.6 16V

well i dunno guys, we have a very good remapping expert here and from what ive seen, id need to put at least 1000 gbp in my previous car 1.6 120bhp alfa to get it going to a noticeable gain in bhp. but then again on a turbo you get 5+ times the bhp gain in comparison to alfa if id invest only 250gbp in both without any mods. from 1.8 T 150bhp you get 200 without a problem. its always tested on a dyno before and number of tests done. for more than 200bhp you need some extra mods but again itll cost you less to get to 300bhp from 150bhp than to get my ex alfa to 150-160 from 1.6 ... if one wants a car with some tuning potential you just need a turbo. In a 2.4 i suppose you get a smoother torque chart and some extra bhp with a complete exhaust swapped, more agressive camshaft if available , intake, and a number of other things im not sure what are called in english. Id probably also remap NA if i had the money to spare cause the sound of a V6 or V8 (or stilos 5 cyl if much nicer that a 1.8T but its much more $$$.
btw. id like to see the chart if you take it on a dyno Stuart
