| Air bag despair 3 dr dynamic in Broom yellow...........with smiley air freshner..in yellow of course. I've had my stilo for 3 months and apart from a few minor probs like a duff engine, that was replaced, we have had a good relationship. 6 weeks before the warranty ends both air bag lights have burst into life. Last night the drivers air bag light came on and the display said 'stop engine'. From reading previous threads I remembered the wiring is a tad suspect, so afumbling I went and the light and warning display went out after getting all touchy feely with the spaghetti under the seat nearly instantly. HURRAH! Any of you lot fellow Stilo Edward Cases out there know which wire or con block is favourite to give such a fault? But wait! Like an offer from DFS sofas, there's more. The anti-kiddy rear facing air bag immobliser on the passenger seat also comes on and off at will, approx. every 30 mins for about 5 secs. It doesn't matter if there's somebody in the seat or not. (If I had a choice would prefer a good blonde, any body know any?) Again, I think this is similar to previous threads any thoughts on cause, rectification under waranty in the third year? Stanley knife's and sellotape at the ready to start cutting all those pretty coloured wires. Ash

| Grumpy Forum Moderator | Re: Air bag despair You want to cut airbag wires I take it you were kidding With ignition switched off ust disconnect & reconnect the 2/3 multiplugs under the seat thats normally enough,if you have any a cable tie is good to wrap around the plug to keep the connection tight. Might need a sensor mat for the pass seat though & common fault, its a easy job to do.

| 5vp3r m0d | Re: Air bag despair I have just had my sensor mat replaced, and still the airbag lights come on when a passenger sits on it. Going back in again to be rechecked [along with my brake light stuck on AGAIN, and a new n/s light unit], but I may do what T14086 says and see if that helps

| Re: Air bag despair T14086, I tried disconnecting the 2 blocks, counted to 5 secs, reconnected the blocks, turned the ignition on and................DAMN! 'airbag failure'. OK I give up, tele/con with the dealer tomorrow. Stuart, Ta for the sensor mat info I'll cross swords with the dealer on this as well. Tally Ho!

| Grumpy Forum Moderator | Re: Air bag despair You need to clear the codes (you have probably sorted the connection problem) but fault will still be logged.Ask dealer to delete it (for free,1 minute job) & check seat base mat aswell, although you can normally tell these are knackered if you feel the seat you feel sharp lumps where the circuit mat sensors have broken. By the way when I ment seat base is a easy job I ment for the dealer,I wouldn't recommend anyone stripping seat down especially if it has side airbags, talkin from experience here!
