Angry 3rd year warranty

I recently contacted both my local Fiat garage and Fiat uk about a door problem that I have had almost from day one.I'm now into 3rd year warranty
and the problem is now back,I can't open my passanger door from the inside or the outside. Arnold Clark(Broxburn) branch have tried many times to fix it,they eventually replaced the handle on the passanger door approx 15 months ago.

When I phone them they have told me it isn't covered now under any warranty.During the same phone call I informed them that my drivers side headlight is full of condensation only to be told the same not covered under any warranty.I have since spoken to Fiat uk who also have I can't have these repairs fixed under 3 rd year warranty.

The point of this thread is has anybody had these problems and if so did you get them repaired? any help with this would really be appreciated.

Re: 3rd year warranty

If you reported a problem within first two years, and it is still a problem, then they have to honour that, irrespective of whether you are now into 3rd year, surely.

I am getting my n/s lampunit replaced under 3rd year warranty as we speak - it had condensation in it, followed by a shorting out of the lamp levelling unit.

Re: 3rd year warranty

If you did report it within the first two years and they had several attempts to fix it, then they have to repair it again. Regardless of what they claim, the work needs to be of a standard expected and this should be expected to last more than a couple of years. Under consumer rights, you can have a claim against a car manufacture for upto 6 years from date of delivery under the Sale of Goods act if the fault was present during the warranty period and not repaired to a satisfactory level (i.e not temporary repair).

Even if you didn't have a 3rd year warranty they would have to fix it. Best option is to send Fiat UK a registered letter giving them 7 days to arrange for a repair. If they don't answer, send a second letter to give them 7 days to comply or you will take legal action. Then if they don't reply to that, go to www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and file a claim, they will probably not get round to replying to the courts within the time allowed and you can get a default notice against them. You can then pursue them for the cost.

Give them loads of hassle.
