| Re: Anyone fitted a Amp in a stilo ? In the boot, on the left hand side there should either be a lighter socket or a hook. If you have a hook pull it out and there is still the wiring for a second lighter socket- Most people have used this to power amps

| Grand Stilismo | Re: Anyone fitted a Amp in a stilo ? The amp should be wired to the battery, not from a Lighter socket (athough I appriciate the post) The power would blow the fuse evey 10 seconds - I have searched these forums many times looking for a solution ... the lighter power idea is not really an option SOMEONE OUT THERE MUST BE ABLE TO GET A POWER LEAD THROUGH THE BULKHEAD - HELP !!!

| Re: Anyone fitted a Amp in a stilo ? Hey buddy, Been bored so looking on the forums and saw your predicament.Basically i read about the lad doing the Project Stilo thing and the sticky he's done which was good, but it seems that the models have different layouts behind the dashboard. What i recommend is to do this. First of all you said you had a sealed unit where the flap should be... could do with a photo of it ![]() Anyhoo you need a few tools and a bit of DIY knowledge. In the past i have done this and not had any problems. Forgive me on the instructions as i am doing it from memory and without a car to look at :P 1, now you have all the glovebox taken out you should be fairly close to the bulk head. 2, now open the bonnet and this is the important bit you need to figure out if there is anything going to block you drilling yes drilling through the bulk head. 3, what i do is dril from the outside in, as its better to go into a bit of dash than the engine :P use a small drill eg 2mm so it'll break if it goes into something hard. This sounds amateurish but imho its a good safe guard incase you aren't good at judgement. 4, when you have found out where the hole shall go, don't just dive in with the right size, instead build up the hole up to the wire diameter. This is where you will need to go slightly larger so that you can fit a rubber grommet into it, you can find these at halfords etc. 5, With the hole now completed, its best to use a primer on the hole so it doesn't rust in the future!! 6, Place the amp wire through the grommet and put the grommet into the new hole you have. 7, Now you should be-able to run the wire to the back. Done and dusted. If i get round to doing mine i will do photos and put them here ![]() Just one other thing about this wire in the boot, what i reckon you could do is trace the wire back to the bulk head if it goes that way and disconnect it and use the wire to go from your headunit to the amp ( again this should be simple enough but again i need to look at it ) All in all you are looking at about 3 hours work to do it all right (roughly) To do it easier, and this is a 'delboy' way of doing it is this way. 1, Run the amp wire through the wheel well and run it under one of the sideskirts INSIDE some plastic tubing. 2, Using tubing clips connect them to the skirt with self tappets. 3, Drill through the back wheel well and straight into the boot. Again this is the cowboy way but it does work, and you maybe worried that the cable is running on the outside of the car, but thats what the plastic tubing is for. Go for something like 3mm thickness or more. HTH Stu

| Re: Anyone fitted a Amp in a stilo ? Hi I'm about to install my JBL GTO 4000 amplifier which is 600W max output in the boot of my stilo and I really can't be arsed messing around getting the power cable to my battery. Some people have used the socket in the boot and other people are saying no you'll set fire to your car or you'll blow fuses every 10 seconds. Who has actually tried it with a similar amp to mine and what happens? Does it run fine? Also did you use just the cars standard fuse? The socket states it can handle 180W max but I have no idea what input my amp needs, anyone know? Thanks Ste
