Exclamation Sat Nav freezing.........

Has anyone else experienced the egg timer appearing when the nav is half way thru a route? Just like when it re-routes, but it freezes the screen. You have to stop the car take out the keys & wait for "check ok" before re- entering the destination.
Mines been doing it on & off for a while, took it into the dealers (who wanted to argue not covered by 3rd year warranty) ! so I rang Fiat, who said one of their area reps would need to inspect the car, this was 3 weeks ago!
Car went in yesterday, they have removed the complete connect + unit & sent it for repair, possibly a fortnight turn-around
Never realised how dark the inside of the car is without the 7" screen illuminated !! also how bad my singing is now i am radioless

Re: Sat Nav freezing.........

I`ve experienced this on my Abarth, 32k miles. I removed the nav disc and gave it a good clean, it`s been okay since. I use my sat nav every day. Hope this helps.

Re: Sat Nav freezing.........

Thanks for that HC, I have my "genuine" nav disc supplied with the car, also a (cough) 2005 copy! the fault occurs with either disc inserted. Hopefully all will be well after the repair

Interesting one, Steve!

I have never experienced it on the Stilo, even with a 2005 'variant'

Re: Sat Nav freezing.........

Well the singing hasn't improved! and I still have a large hole in my dash! 17 days now since my connect+ removed & no sign of it returning! Fiat say it has gone to the manufacturers for repair, who are in turn waiting for spares to arrive. because the car is in its 3rd year warrenty it cannot be replaced.

Anyone got a spare walkman...........

Re: Sat Nav freezing.........

I know I'm in the wrong Forum here but I had the same problem with the Sat Nav on my Punto Sporting. I tried cleaning the CD, and found it was dirty as hell! That improved the problem but didn't solve it. In the end I used a CD lens cleaner and I've had no problems since

Can I ask Froggie 666, where did you get the 2005 copy of the Nav CD from? I've got a 2000 edition in my car at it getting well out of date now and I'm not sure how much Fiat would charge me for an updated cd

Re: Sat Nav freezing.........

Jimbo, it is not FIAT who charge - it is Navteq who are the providers.

I doubt it would be compatible - the Stilo and Ulysse systems are different as well. What system do you have?
