Drop Link Bars

Hi all

I finally received my new lowering springs after weeks of waiting, took the car to my local "Formula 1" garage to get them fitted and they came out with a problem to do with the drop link bars on the front suspension (apparently these link the shocks to the roll bar).

Apparently this causes problems as how they are connected either end, they've told me that in order for them to fit the new springs im gonna have to buy new drop link bars as the only way they can get the old ones off will involve breaking them.

Can anyone whos lowered there stilo let me know if you've come across any such problem cos all the people ive spoken to since cant seem to understand it.

Thanks

Matt

Re: Drop Link Bars

I all depends on what type of drop link you have on. If its the old style then they should be able to get them off, As the shank on the rear of the bolt is made to fit a 17mm spanner and the nuts is 15-16mm i think. The new ones the shank is rounded ,and on the end of the bolt there is a hole for a 5mm allen key( A Bit like the top of shockers), This usually rounds off when trying to remove the nut , Thus making it very difficult to remove the nut, thus causing damage to the link.

Re: Drop Link Bars

Hi Thanks for the info

If my cars on a 52 plate, any ideas as to what kind of fixings mine will have on the drop link bars, as i dont have many provisions for looking under the car and i noticed the bolt at the bottom faces towards the inside of the arch so you cant see it without jacking the car up.
