Possible BIG problem

Hi All,

Managed to get my Air Warning light sorted (loose connection on passanger seat). Now I have a bigger problem. When I turn off the ignition and lock the car, via the remote, the fog lights come on and the rad. cooling fan comes on - only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery (otherwise fan and lights remain on until battery flat).

Has anyone else had this problem or have ideas ???

Re: Possible BIG problem

Sounds pretty catastrophic, what happens when you lock the car with the key in the lock?

Re: Possible BIG problem

Dexys, did this problem come about after the garage had fixed the airbag light???

Can't you just take it back to dealer?

Re: Possible BIG problem

Problem occured after giving the car a jetwash, I was able to, fix the air bag problem myself after readi8ng some of the previous posting on this sitelooked at my 'orange' connector under the seat to find it was almost completely unconnect.

Problem appears to occur once the ignition is switched off and the drivers door is close approx. 30secs delay then fan and fog lights come on even without locking the car, manually or via remote locking......

Ideas most welcome......I'm starting to believe this car is not fit for the purpose for which it was designed, which based on my minimal legal experience is a failure under the Sales Of Goods Act.....

Re: Possible BIG problem

Jetwashing cars never seems like a good idea! It seems that water could have got into the main junction box on top of the battery; I cleaned my engine once and the full-beam headlamps were flashing on and off by themselves, and I got an Engine Fault warning the next morning.

If you jetwashed inside the engine then FIAT might get picky. I was told of a mod. to the wiring loom at the front as the cooling fan can stick on if a wiring connector got wet; my brothers Abarth had that problem. As for the foglights, I expect its the same problem as I had, although it had gone away the next morning.

Re: Possible BIG problem

Yeah Jetwash is find if you only use it directly under the car, but careful under the front. I'd pop the bonnet and anything that looked like a connector give it quick dousing with WD40, leave the bonnet up for 20 mins in the sun and i'm sure any moisture will be cleared, also check all connections are secure.
