Angry Mp3 changer for Stilo?

I´ve just had a look at my new Stilo as it arrived at the dealer. The car is exactly to specs, with the exception of the radio (I ordered the CD/MP3 option, but it only came with a CD player). Now I´d like to know, are there any FIAT-compatible MP3 CD-changers for the Stilo? Rumor is, that installing a FIAT MP3 radio will cause some computer errors (sounds like dealer BS to me). So, should I take the plunge and fork out an extra 250 EUROs for the MP3 player, provided it would work, or does ayone know of a good MP3 changer that would work with my stock stereo?

Re: Mp3 changer for Stilo?

I thought about getting the Alpine 6 disc mp3 changer. It won't fit directly to the standard head unit, but the Alpine website claims that there equipment can be fitted with any existing products. There are probably adaptors or people with sufficient knowledge and skill to enable installation, but until I see incontravertable evidence that it can be easily installed with an installation kit, I'm a little put off.

Re: Mp3 changer for Stilo?

The only way to put a mp3 player in would be to buy the fiat unit(£290-£400) or get your own headunit and use the plate you can buy from halfords for £13.00(thats what i did)

Re: Mp3 changer for Stilo?

I very much doubt there is much difference in the body computer between any of the petrol driven Stilo's Abarth excepted! Im sure the MP3 player or the SatNav will work in any Stilo, and i will attempt to prove this when/if i can ever get my hands on a SatNav Stilo unit.

Re: Mp3 changer for Stilo?

OK, thanks for the responses guys! I guess I´ll just add the extra for the MP3 unit and get it over with.

Re: Mp3 changer for Stilo?

When I enquired with my local Fiat Dealer about the Stilo CD/MP3 player, they said the unit only plays mp3's off a memory card, is that correct and, if so, why would anyone want that. I know you can get 1GB cards now, but when you think what they cost compared with CD recordable media at under £1.00 for 800MB, I can't believe manufacturers are still building card only devices.

That´s incorrect. I had a loaner Stilo for a week and it played MP3s from the CD very nicely
