2004 Abarth Update

2000 miles on my selespeed now and not one problem. no warning lights or buzzers. no gearbox woblies, nothing broke or fell off(touches large bit of wood). maybe they have sorted the stilo electrical gremlins once and for all.

Re: 2004 Abarth Update

Lets hope so too, mate

Aw, I would miss it each day IF a warning light didn't flash - TODAY has been ESP/ASR plus the AIRBAG light.

Re: 2004 Abarth Update

Could be the new Body Computer, updated on 12/2003. It's also cheaper than the older one; I expect all of its checking and diagnostic systems have been removed!!!

DOG, does your Abarth have an alarm? If so, or not, do the indicators flash when you lock / unlock the car? I ask because my Stilo may be getting a new Body Computer; if it does, the garage doing it don't know how to turn them on, and I can see another fuss being created.

Re: 2004 Abarth Update

my car does not have an alarm, but the indicators do flash on locking/unlocking. this feature was turned on by the factory for 04 models.
fiat dealers can turn on this function on older stilos. the info is in service bulletin no22 dated 12th august 2002. your dealer should have access to this.

Re: 2004 Abarth Update

I like the link, nice one, I can have it down to early 20's but its not bad on the motorway with the cruise set just below 80mph.........

Thumbs up Re: 2004 Abarth Update

Mine has done around 3.5k now - no problems whatsoever (can't beleive I'm risking a jinx of biblical proportions)!! The engine is loosening up nicely 2nd gear is now very strong. The only issue is the trim at the base of the centre console has popped out a bit beacuse my wife thought it was a bin/ashtray and basically ripped it off trying to open it (I took it quite well), lets just say we're still married! mpg around 23.5 after a decent milage round trip to Brookalnds last week with an extended spell on the M40 above 120MPH (superb).

To put the MPG in perspective Panda cost £22 for full tank and did 210 miles before refil!! Gotta love the Abarth though - you can't exactly surf the torque on a twisty B road in the Panda!!

Thumbs down Not bad...........................

I filled my up today, reset the counter, took my lad to football and when I got home I'd done 44 miles an average speed of 26mph and 28.5 mpg!

I should have bought the Abarth, the 1.6 drinks like a fish!

Talking Re: 2004 Abarth Update

TC I thought the MPG on my 1.6 was pretty poor (for a 1.6) quite surprised how well the 2.4 does considering the size increase oo-er...

Talking Yeah...................

I know, I average between 23-28mpg, the 1.6 is crap in terms of mpg but hey, who cares and stop showing off with your big one!

Re: 2004 Abarth Update

I average 33 mpg on local driving and that includes being stuck in traffic over The Pitsea flyover and Sadlers Farm and 38 - 40 mpg when I have a run down to Guildford on the M25 at speeds around 90 mph. It's a bit better than my Jeep 15 - 18 mpg local and 24 on a run.
