(T) Gear Knob & Stereo

I've recently brought a second hand Stilo 1.9 JTD 3 dr and have a few questions:

1-The gear knob is badly scratched from the previous owners rings. I would like to change it, probably for the same type. Does anyone know how to remove it though?

2-Something that's bugging me with the stereo, why does the radio always turn on when I start the car? All the previous cars I've had leave the radio in the same state as when the car was swtiched off. Perhaps there is a menu for this?

Hi Matt - good choice of Stilo - My wife scratched the gearknob of my Stilo with her wedding ring, I happened to mention this to the dealer one day - just in passing - and they replaced it for a new one free of charge, as it's covered by the three year warranty. Ask your dealer before you fork out for a new one - the worse they'll say is no but they might say yes and you'll be quids in.

As for the radio - this was the same in my 02 Dynamic, funnily enough in my 04 Abarth it only switches on when you turn it on - so they obviously changed this aspect for later models; to my knowledge there is no menu to change it...but someone might prove me wrong?

2. its prob wired to the egnition so how u leave it when u turn ur car off is how it will come on so if u turn it off b4 u turn the car off it shouldnt (in theory) come on when u turn it on.

Read the manual, it explains (badly) on how to set your stereo to come on with the ignition, or not, if thats what you prefer.

You can set the radio to come on with the ignition or set to turn on manually. I've replaced the crappy Fiat gear knob with a nice MoMo F16 carbon fibre jobby, you have to hacksaw the old one off - bit scary. looks and feels nice now though.

SHC, the one in the Dynamic is already leather, so looks and feels nice

hmm, I've only got a poor old Active Air-con, so its a big improvement for me.
