Radio dead

Hello,

Yesterday the Radio of my Fiat Stilo went completely dead.
All fusses are okay and there is 12Volt on the radio but not even the display comes up. It is the Radio with CD model. (not MP3)
Any suggestions idea's?

Gr. OldMan.
My Fiat is like me wife, keeps me busy all the time.
I'm already divorced.

Re: Radio dead

Mine does that sometimes if I leave a CD playing whilst killing the engine

Have you tried your favorite - a battery reset?

Re: Radio dead

Hi Argonought,

As far as i know there is no CD in the radio.
My favorite battery reset did not help this time.
If you have the CD problem, is the display also blank then?
I think I start to take it apart tomorrow if no other suggestions come.

Thanks for your comment by the way,
OldMan.

Re: Radio dead

Easy fix this one, and simple mod - get a nice Alpine head unit with a ipod connection to the glovebox and save yourself a worry!

Re: Radio dead

Does anybody know if the display is supposed to come up if you only connect the 12 volt. Like in case of: no canbus or error on the canbus.

Yes; totally.

It's happened quite a few times but in every case it sorts itself out if I simply turn it off and back on and then after maybe a minute it comes to life again.

As said, it's never a problem if I change "SRC" back to radio before turning off the engine.

I strikes me it must be a loading issue - as in it doesn't like the extra load required to get the CD spinning when you start the car and some failsafe system comes into play. This in turn might mean it's an earthing issue somewhere
