Angry 3rd year warranty?

Just taken my 52 reg Stilo in for its 24 month service, booked it last week giving the service person(****)a list of problems needing checked.

1 Wind noise from passanger side.
2 Side repeaters full of water, one was hanging out ,(obviously broken.)but not by me.
3 ABS warning light coming on.
4 Creaking clutch pedal.
5 CD player freezing up mid track.

So the point is,local Arnold f*****g Clark have said that 1,2(broken light)+5
are not covered because of the reg date(03/09/02)service date(03/09/04)

So what the F**k is covered?

This Stilos days are numbered, not cos its a bad car,but because of bad dealers!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 3rd year warranty?

The warrenty on fiats in the 3rd year are sometime not worth the paper they are writen on,complain and ask to see the area rep.
ABS problem...brake pedal switch needs adjusting..
water in side repeaters is a known problem..
clutch pedal creaking again is common to stilos..
I should know i have to try and fix them and the help off fiat is sometimes just not their, the best thing you can do is always ask to see the area rep

Re: 3rd year warranty?

The 3rd year of the warranty is a joke see here for exclusions

http://fiat.co.uk/services/3_year_dealer_warranty.asp

I had to pay for the wind seal problem to get fixed in the 3rd year, all audio equipment is excluded as well. I just got hit with a £218 bill on Monday becasue an aircon pipe burst (another common fault) you're not alone mate. I'm considering never buying another Fiat again as the build quality is so bad.

Oh and by the way, it's Arnold Clark in my case as well! I've got the tyre wear problem and their suggestion was for me to call Fiat. Eh isn't that your job??

seriously

Unhappy Re: 3rd year warranty?

If the 3rd year warrenty is the same as the first two, which I assume is the case then the wind noise (providing it has always been noisy and you have raised it before), the ABS should be covered. The CD Player may not as it may have a 12 month warenty on it from a different manufacturer.

Sadly if the side repeaters are broken, unless you can prove that they were broken by a member of the dealers' staff (which I am not suggesting is the case) will not be covered. The clutch pedal will not be especially if you drive high mileage. These are items that are defected because they are in constant use, or have been broken due to abuse/neglect/other (again I am not suggesting you abuse/neglect your car, but never the less they are broken, and they didn't breake them selves!)

Have just read the above - looks like any items that can show signs of use are not covered! However if you have been experiancing these problems before the 3rd year you should still be able to claim for them in the 3rd year so long as the dealer has not fixed the original problem... if you see what I mean!

Re: 3rd year warranty?

The wind noise will not be covered if it is caused by a faulty door seal. These are excluded in year 3. Audio is covered for years 1 and 2 have a read at this

http://fiat.co.uk/services/3_year_dealer_warranty.asp

it's pretty clear on the exclusions - They're good at that at least!

Re: 3rd year warranty?

Alex

I tried that one by saying the wind nosie was a problem before and it was but I opted to wait for my 2 year service which was a week after the car's 2nd birthday. I complained directly to Fiat customer serviced and they basicially told me to chase myself.

Re: 3rd year warranty?

what was the reason for the wind noise? Have you tried an alternative dealer? Also in my experiance the dealer has to be activly dealing with a problem before the annaversairy of the purchase date for the 2nd/3rd year, waiting for your second year service may have been to your demise.

Re: 3rd year warranty?

waiting for the 2nd year was my mistake, one which i won't make again! you live and learn - especially when companies take a literal view on things and offer no goodwill. The problem was a busted door seal £50 to fix. You're right if they are actively dealing with it pre 2 years old you shoould be OK.

Smile Re: 3rd year warranty?

Well guys just collected my Stilo from Arnold Clark(Broxburn)to be told that they will replace the side repeaters, lubricated the clutch, blamed the sky roof for the wind noise(i was going to say that he was also making wind noises from his stupid gob)but refrained.

They also allowed me to pay £40 + vat for them checking the above complaints, wasn't that nice of them!!!!!

Re: 3rd year warranty?

wind noise is a common fault from the drivers door, it is easily fixed using a bit of sticky tape to cover the hole under the trim. it has been explained before on this forum. if i can find the thread i will post it here.
