| Had an experience this week, with the engine fault message and engine management light coming on,and only half power ,up to 3500 revs. Had to nurse the car back from a Hilly South wales 180 mile....................gone into dealer for diagnostic check.......... wonder what it could be ?

| Re: engine fault Sounds like it’s gone into limp home mode. If the ecu gets a reading from a sensor that is outside its normal parameters, it substitutes it for a generic safe one and to stop damage restricts the performance… but it does get you home. As for which one, it could be any of the sensors. The Fiat Examiner (diagnostic tester) will show the faults quickly if the so called technician can operate it!. Good luck. It is a very reliable engine.

Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: (0) | Re: engine fault I had the management light come on in my 1.6 Active a few weeks back and got it looked at but by the time they hooked the examiner up it had reset itself! They did say that it was likely that a sensor had gone off on one, but they couldn't identify which one...

| Ask them to use scantool option on the examiner because this records errors that are called "Validated errors" which will put on your warning light and then theres " nonvalidated errors" these will not put on the warning light but this type of error is like having a small hiccup in the emissions but not big enough to cause the light to come on, the ecu will monitor this until its happy then it will erase it automatically
