Loud Clicking Noise when changing gear :(

Hi all,

Have had my Stilo Abarth selespeed for about 4 weeks now, all was going well.
I went to Italy on Wednesday and came back late Sunday and found my battery was dead, we jump started it and it was fine.
Next morning battery dead again but that was just because I hadn't driven enough the night before to charge it.
Called the AA, they came quickly and jump started it again and check the battery was ok and there was no drain in the electrics. All was fine, I drove around for about an hour and the battery is charged back up.
Later in the evening I drive somewhere and all of a sudden a loud clicking noise starts.
This is when the car is stationary or when it is changing gear so it seems to be when the car is in neutral that it occurs.
Any ideas what the problem may be? Clutch or something?

Not good

Thanks for you help.
Stephen

Aux drive belt tensioner bearings perhaps. The fact that your battery is discharging could mean that the alternator is not spinning. The Aux belt is not a toothed belt, its a grooved belt. If the tesioner is slightly loose or seizing, then it could skip the alternator pulley. This could be making the slapping noise and would explain the battery issue.

I could be totally wrong, but just another avenue to inspect.
