Stilo brake pad replacement

Anything specific to Stilo that I need to look out for? Replaced loads of pads in the past various makes, just dont want any surprises and found nothing in the Search function.

Car is a 1.2 Active Aircon, 03 plate.

Cheers Stilo-peeps.

Re: Stilo brake pad replacement

the front pads are straight-forward , at the rear the pistons have to be turned and pushed in turning towards the front of the car, so anti-clockwise for the left and clockwise for the right piston....
Also take care that the pin on the back of the pad fits in the slot of the piston, otherwise it will wear and brake uneven!

Re: Stilo brake pad replacement

as said, front is pretty straight foward, undo a couple of bolts, about half an hours work if that.

the rears, theres a thread on it and a wind back tool (or home made device) is required. either buy the tool from a fiat dealer who will either sell one to you or deny their existance.

i gave up and paid a garage to do it

Re: Stilo brake pad replacement

Cheers to Yellowstilo and Bigblackstilo.
Yep 35 mins work just did fronts and they had a good year or so in them the way wifey drives but its done now, and thankfully its drums at the rear on a 1.2, so on the basis of the most braking effort being done at the front and still so much life left in the pads I will leave inspection at the rear for a few months.

Cheers Stiloboys...

...but it's disks at the rear of even a 1.2, or at least they are one mine. Unless I have a special option fitted to mine or something

I'm sure you're right about that muppet

Drums are way too low tech for a Stilo

Discs at the rear it is! Still...at least they are probably serviceable for a while yet , the fronts still had a year or so left in them, but thanx for setting me right guys....
