central locking query

just brought a 3 door 1.8 dynamic stilo, now the handbook says that the hazards should flash when you lock and unlock the doors via the remote central locking but mine dont, anyone got any ideas why they dont? normal indicators and hazzard lights work

One of the most common questions on the Forum.

A quick use of Search should give the answer in no time - plus loads to read

Re: central locking query

I've got the same, been meaning to query the Fiat dealership at some point to get it swtiched on as it were. Not exactly an urgent thing though, just a nusiance as I'm always paranoid it's not locked

Re: central locking query

I can't understand why you guys don't get it sorted - it must have been one of the first jobs I had done on mine (but get it done when having something else checked with Examiner as that way it works out a lot cheaper )

The ONLY reason i havent had mine done is because when my Stilo was in for the recall today, i asked them to reset the service light and switch indicators when locking on and they said, "It's £34.50 for each" SO £69 just to reset service and turn the other on??? There are people on here that have had it done for nowt???

Cheeky so and so's!!!

Very very few I think you'll find. How many charitable garages do you know of

TBH, I'm surprised they even offered to reset the service indicator (I'm assuming you did the service)

The service was done before i bought the car and i had the receipt/invoice to prove it.

I just cant help feeling that its a first class cheek to request that amount of money for two easy jobs. Had they of said £20 for it then fair enough, a few minutes of hook up time and done. THE SINGLE MOST annoying thing is that i noticed there was only my car in, when i asked the service manager he said they only had 3 vehicles booked in! So i wouldnt even be taking their valuble time!

They can forget me buying my next motor from there anyway!

I wish, the actual garage i visited is longer a fiat dealer but a Fiat aftercare. (Now Renault)
I used to work in the parts department but the service staff and management have all changed now! Cant find a reasonably close alternative anywhere?

I guess i will just have to keep LISTENING for the noise!
I think it is absolutely STUPID that fiat leave the indicator flash off from factory? It doesn't make sense? OR why not put the option into the user menu?

EXCELLENT forum by the way!!!

Re: central locking query

Ive got to say that is an anoying thing about the stilo, it should flash from new!

Im certainly not paying the Fiat stealer to do it for me, i might ask the fiat specialist next time im there though.

Another anoying stilo thing, the radio, it always turn on when i turn the car on, even if i left the radio off. Somewhere there is a setting to turn that option off, but then the radio doesn't turn off when you turn the car off!

How fustrating!

If you have a good search of past threads you'll find the reason for this.

It was resolved I believe on imports around 2004/05 but still a hell of lot cheaper to get the feature enabled by your dealer than buy a new car

You may be right, BUT, it still works out cheaper to make a relay system (£4) and install in 20 mins rather than pay £34.50 for someone to hook, connect, click, click and done!

I dont want to install a relay system but i would rather do that than pay these prices! If they were BUSY and my car WAS NOT already booked in etc.. I would understand a charge for fitting me in and 'taking' someones time BUT....

THE FACT FOR ME IS, there was only THREE cars booked in ALL DAY, my car was already in for work doing! It wasn't much bother for them to activate the ights and cancel the service light! THEY WANTED £69 for these two! HOW can that be justified??

Its a shame because my last car was the new shape astra and vauxhall always went out of their way! I went in for a fuel tank filler recall and came out with the recall completed, AND free air con recharge, they even asked if there was anything else they could do with a smile!

The fact is, i love my stilo and wouldnt change it for anything else, its just a shame that fiat cant get the electrics or aftercare right!
