Re: JTD/MJET - induction and remaps, please read!

Right i may be getting slightly out of my depth here but these are remarkably similar to the probs with N/A petrol engines without remaps.
It seems you are experiencing turbo Lag and i am experiencing flat spots at the rev ranges where the most difference from standard is made.
I can only explain this by fault of the ECU not understanding what this extra information is at this point and the advanced timing is going out of sink of the fuelling. (I dont have a clue what this means as i said before im not too up on how engines work i am just deriving from facts) anyway this could explain dirty sparks in my old Punto. One would imagin that if you are trying to ignite nothing then you would get excess carbon build up. (another thing that i just assume)
Oh and this maybe useful or just confuse matters even more. I have tried to Map my car but it ran less HP than when it was standard and it turns out that the Lambda sensor had started to go seemingly the instant the map was put on so i put it back standard as i had to have the work done on warrenty.
One more thing for my 1.6 fiat dont reackon that the Torque and HP pass at 5381 Revs or whatever it is supposed to be we disregarded this as wrong but .

Also clean the MAP sensor at the same time.
what do you class as the stop valve?

The butterfly valve in the air stream, where it enters the manifold, next to the EGR inlet.

So, I presume you removed it from the manifold to clean it?

Just how dirty was it?

Re: JTD/MJET - induction and remaps, please read!

i have a 2005 1.9 jtd doblo tht has been angel tuned but no induction kit!

had a engine management light issue turned out it was a fault code that didnt save in the memory! so went after 4/5 ign cycles and went out, only made the light come on when you were being a little enthusiastic at the top end of the rev range in 4th norm whilst overtakin ppl :P

on the next service i found it to be the small hose from the back of the turbo to the boost controller assembly had come loose reconnected all is good,

the only downside is it doesnt make max power when its really hot outside i think the standard intercooler struggles in hotter weather to lower ambient charge temp, overall very pleased with the tuning in general wouldnt change back i luv the extra power and torque,

i couldnt recommend angel any more highly!! superb service!

Yes I did and very dirty. Probably 20% reduced in size due to crud build up inside. I imagine the rest of the manifold is the same. One day, when I have time, I'll take it off too.

No. Only petrol engines have a throttle body.

No, not turbo lag. What some of us are getting is effectively a turbo 'shut down' as the ECU goes "what the feck" a situation which I'm trying to either do away with or bypass.....

I'm still to be convinced it's the ECU..... I strongly believe the sensors are the key. The ECU simply responds to the signals it gets sent.... so cheat the signals and you have a sort of solution.

Surely the only relevant sensor is the MAF (and not forgetting temperature )

I'm a bit confused by this thread already?

Do Red Dot remaps without GSR induction still produce engine faults anyway? (Minimad seems to suggest they do )

maf, map, overboost valve, boost pressure sensor?

What controls the veins on the turbo?

Yes; but MAP is post turbo - so a bit indirect from induction
