(T) Bonnet cable ****ed ???

Hi guys basically i tried to open my bonnet something pinged and now i cant open it !!!

i took the lever off to see if the cable had snapped or something but it was fine i even tried pulling the cable to open the bonnet but nothing happend, which is what leads me to believe that the cable has broke inside the bonnet!

any ideas how i can fix this prob? im a bit broke at the mo and i dont want to take it to a garage where they might rip me off !

I assume that the bonnet is the hood???

If so, why don't you have someone to slightly press down and lift it while you try with the cable? The next thing i believe is to go from down under...

Grip the cable end and pull it with a pair of pliers. If the cable has snaped, it would just pull out in your hand so it has not snaped. Mine broke in the release leaver itself, but I can still open the bonnet by pulling on the cable end with pliers.

my handle broke, so bonnet cable moved but the bonnet wdnt open.
new handle was £7.99 from fiat

You need the handle mounting plate, not the handle itself. At least that is what broke on mine. It is about 6.50 pounds ( sorry for my stupid american keyboard with no pound sign)

the handle mounting plate was what i was reffering too..
1)unclip the handle(it just pops off), theres 1 screw behind it to the left too.

2)remove the skirting from around it.

3)the handle base plate is then held on by 2 further screws. you should see if the bonnet cable is attached to that properly.if it is try turning the base plate.

4)if its not attached, pull the metal line from bonnet cable towards you with some plyers. and hopefully your bonnet will pop open.

5)if not, you should be able to pull that bonnet cable out completely in which case you know it has snapped.

if your handle base plate is broken you can order another from fiat for £6- £7

it may well have broken, it isn't a very strong or well made part. and if your cable is stiff in the 1st place thats usualy the 1st thing to take the strain
