Im now missing an undertray!

Car went in for a MOT today, and it was found my undertray was only held on with about 3 bolts if that, mountings on the car had broke and the undertray itself has multiple fractures so is now wasted.

With the mountings on the car being totalled i dont think i'll bother with a new one.

Car passed its MOT- parts missing from rear brake callipers dont seem to be a problem now!

Fixings for the under tray are on the side shrouds and to the front behind the front bumper..

Re: Im now missing an undertray!

The 2 x 10mm bolts on the front hold it firmly enough but the side screws easily rust and I'd say need replacing at some point

If it falls at the rear then you can only drive forwards - unless you want to rip it to pieces when reversing - so be warned

One of the great joys of having standard ride height is that my undertray barely makes contact with anything these days

Re: Im now missing an undertray!

not strictly true argo,

i keep on writing to the council about speed bumps. Not all of them, as in bolton near work the are full sized sleeping policemen things and the car doesnt ground them.

Its those square ones. down the road from me, they are narrow enough to fit in a stilos track, and high enough to smack a slightly loose undertray, and eventually smash it to smithereens, as above. And this is at standard height. and im not the only one having problems.

They only slow me down in the stilo because the car cant get over them without conact, but the saxo will fly over them, infact the faster you go the less you feel. So all the big cars, (stilo, vectra, jag s types) get stuck and slow down, whilst all the little insurance friendly motors can whip over them.

I tried driving ove them with one wheel, and it buggered the tracking. I been on about them for years. There used to be a proper sump smasher about 5 miles from here, where the busses going over it had worn grooves eitherside of it so cars dropped in it as the road collapsed. I hit it in the ibiza and beached more or less. on looking at it there were oil spills after it and pools of oil at the side of the road. onths later still wasnt fixed!

Cool Re: Im now missing an undertray!

I never drove directly over speed bumps in the stilo but between the two with one wheel on each bump and do the same with my Pandy..isn't there a regulated height for these anyway 4" high is the regulated height if I'm not mistaken..

Same down here with us but nothing gets done and they all spout hot air..I've been dealing with welsh water and an ongoing issue that's been going on for the last 20 years with the neighbours ..I started on the case last year and got stuck into them I threatened them with the ferret [TV program for consumer rights ] and its now getting done next week ..will be nice not to have our rear garden flooded now each winter..

Re: Im now missing an undertray!

councils are hard work.

dealing with them is bad, working for them, apparantly, is worse
