Re: Removing Glow Plugs

Right at the far back, close to the inlet manifold. (or follow 4 cables from glow-plug relay which is mounted middle bulkhead)

Effectively impossible to replace without the right tools

There's quite a bit of info in this thread but make sure you follow all the links.

I'll produce a guide one day

Question Re: Removing Glow Plugs

Hi,
Thanks for the guide, it enabled me to pin point the glow plug on No 1 cylinder as open circuit.
Went to Main Dealer and was met with such tales of woe it's compleley demoralised me.
The cost started at £90 and ended up at £600 as the maybe calamities followed.
"They are well know for snapping as they are being removed and it could mean the engine coming out"
Tried another dealer and was quoted two hours min, taking off the Manifold etc.

I was under the impression that Fiat had special tools to take these out even if they did snap.

I've settled to live with the pre-heat warning for the moment unless there is an easier way.

Find another Dealer/Garage. Doesn't even need to be Fiat as Examiner is NOT required to reset anything.

It's rated as a 0.5 hour job (according to Fiat) so these garages are clearly incompetent

You certainly need special tools but nothing else needs removing aside from engine cover.

Re: Removing Glow Plugs

My dealer even fitted 4 to mine with a strutbrace fitted in just over an hour. Paid for one hours labour plus parts, about £130 all in i think from memory.
Make sure you agree a price up front regardless of how long it takes them.
