Tyre Wear Update???

Hi, i have just purchased a second hand 1.6 active. 9600 miles. The back rear tyres are very shiny on the outer edge. Called the previous owner and they have changed the fronts but the rears are mint apart from a nice mirror like finish on the outer wall.

Im unsure if the owner has changed the fronts for the back, therefore im unsure if the problem is due to the fronts or back.

Have spent hours reading the posts about this, just wanted to know if you can give me any advice, or if you can point me in the right direction.

Im scared that fiat will say piss off as i have next to no service/history on the car or wtee paperwork.

If anyone has any updates or facts that I can go to my local fiat dealer with.

Thanks you guys!

To get any warranty work done at a dealer that has no record of the car you will need service history proof but there is plenty off info on this forum

I have had exactly this problem with my 02 1.6 Dynamic. Dont want to worry you but mine had to have a rear axle stripdown and rebuild to cure. You might get lucky with just 4 wheel alignment - on a Stilo the rear wheels need aligning same as front. Try that first. Should cost about £40 for 4 wheel alignment.

Best of luck!

Dave

there was an article in the Whatcar? magazine helpline pages this month about a lady who had went through 12 tyres in 53k miles on here Stilo (i'll try and scan it in later). She approached Whatcar? who went to Fiat and they paid for the replacements and If I remeber correctly changed the rear axle. Whatcar? went to the forum (yup Fiatforum got a mention in Whatcar? [8D][8D]) and they confirmed that this was a common issue.

So if any dealer is giving anyone any stick about getting tyres repaced get the August Whatcar? and stick that in front of their face. This issue is now getting some coverage now and is accepted by Fiat as a known issue.

cheers
