Re: Tape Player

i used pieces of a coat hanger. you have to push them in so they are tight to release the clips but don't force them too far.

my unit was very tight aswell, just perservere and i will come eventually. i can't remember if there is anyway of getting to the back to push, maybe rroope will know

Re: Tape Player

I fount that stripping some earth wire from a piece of 2.5mm electric cable was best thing. Get two lengths approximately 200mm long and fold in half.
Insert each end into 4 holes in stereo, you will feel the wire push the spring clips in (about 70mm in). Once this is done grab the stereo by putting fingers into tape deck and pull out whilst moving left and right. It will feel like its not going to budge for a bit then it will move.
Done this millions of times and this seems to be the best method (worked for me anyway)

Re: Tape Player

Coat hangers, and then because mine was still in there tight i took the top govebox out and gave it a helping push from behind, the prongs you can buy wont work, i even took mine to an audio installer back in the day and even they couldnt get it out!

Re: Tape Player

I found 4 small allen-keys and a small touch of brute force to be the best.

Re: Tape Player

What CD player do you have - a direct Stilo replacement one?

In what way doesn't it work?

Re: Tape Player

Visit my local friendly neighbourhood Fiat dealer and ask them to pop it out, never paid for it yet

Non working headunit likely to be the fact that the ISO plug on the headunit is wired in a different pin sequence to the Stilo's ISO plug...
