my new toy

hey guys, just on to let you know bout some stuff i done to my stilo over the weekend that you might want to see. i fitted my new head unit and installed ps2 with my screen. i had to cut up some of the glove box to make it fit but i think you'll agree the finished article is well worth it.
i fitted the screen temorarily in behind the gear stick so i can take it out easily, didnt want it fixed permanently incase some thief tries to break in and steal it. i also fitted the fm modulator to make the sound from the ps2 come through the speakers.
i posted some pics so you can see how it looks.

It's very impressive. My hat goes off to people who have the patience to try and mod their cars in this way. Me, I would start smashing things up at the first sign of a problem. I pick up my Stilo tomorrow and the only thing I will atempt to do is replace the radio for a CD player. So, looking at your setup, where did you get that fascia panel from if you dont mind me asking.

Cheers

I was thinking of getting some front visor mounted LCD sreeens, but i'm too skint, and i'd have no idea what to do with them when they were fitted! :I

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, Abarth boot badge, plastic wheel trims - and 42.4mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

i got the fascia adaptor from autoleads, i think you can order them online, the guy who helped me with the install (fitting the power supply with an ignition feed) said that the stilo was a pleasure to work with, as you probably know, some cars are a pain to work with but the whole thing was finished in like 2 and a half hours.
i also liked the sun visor monitor idea. wanted to have a monitor that i didnt have to take out at night. thought if i could find like a widescreen monitor, but quite small in height, i could conceal it behind that panel just above the glovebox. still, call me a kid, but im lovin it, DVD's, GTA vice city, the joys!!!

anyway, glad you like it.
Kev.

Very nice:D

I'm still not convinced by the fascia panel adapter tho, the standard DIN HU looks a little lost, a double DIN adapter would be the thing:)

I'm still not sure why you'd want to watch DVDs and play games in your motor, it's a little confusing to me!

I generally drive mine for entertainment not use it as a home theatre studio, but hey, each to their own, whatever floats your boat!

Why not?, I know plenty of women who can do multiple things whilst driving. Hair, make-up, phone call all at the same time, OK I admit they haven't quite nailed the driving bit! [}:)]

Yeah, the screen is a bit impractical, but it was one i got free when i bought a dvd player not that long ago, so it was kinda like a cheap option. i quite like the idea of having the sun visor monitors installed. you see them on e-bay all the time but they're from japan and the likes so you never know if theyre going to be ok or you're going to get hit with major tax when it arrives. No extra battery installed, its a dedicated PS2 power supply which doesnt go to cigarette lighter adapter, its straight to bare wire, and according to Veba on a car like the Stilo you could leave it on overnight with no engine running and the car would still start in the morning, not that im going to try it or anything though!! :p Its not really about "i have a ps2 in my car ha ha" i play in a band who play quite a lot of gigs and since we have a lot of waiting about to do at venues and things, it is practical. plus its things like that that make us guys, remote controls for cd players, games consoles and the ability to actually drive [}:)] am i right bozzy?
