Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

They ended up having to split the first nut off. The cleaned up the thread and ran a die over it and the second nut went on no problem. They had no worries removing the nut, the prblem was fitting the new one...obviously just a nacked nut.

Like I said, these guys know what they're doing. The had an old 500 that they rebuilt from the ground up. was BEAUTIFUL!

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

OK, so I've had a think now, and there's something not quite right with my front suspension. It feels fine, feels a little sharper, but it looks no different at all. It's obvious the rear's been lowered, but the front looks no different, if anything maybe a little higher. Is this gonna settle? Should the mechano kit have been removed when fitting the new springs?

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

It should have settled by now! The new springs are an exact fit for old. Mine settled after a 10 mile run. Are you sure? Hows the back? Mine are about level......and significantly lower than before.

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

Back's fine, definately lower, but I'm really not sure about the front. Does that stupid machano kit affect it at all? Would it be lower if I took the freakin thing off?

You sure the springs are correct Chris? Anything designed for a heavier engine would look wrong (although the back would still look OK)

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

That was my thought. They're the one's Koni sent, and they had all the paperwork with them...however, therer was nothing saying anything about specific engine sizes. Think I've been done over here

EDIT: Just Emailed Koni UK asking about the different springs for engine size, and what they're planning on doing about my car that's leaning backwards. Might just cut my losses and save for the full coil over set

If you ordered them from a web site then you have a 7 day full refund option.

Just remind them of "Distance Trading Regulations"

You can return them for any reason at all although they should be in the same condition as received.

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

The Koni set is the same for the entire 3 door series. From 1.2 to 2.4 it's the same springs. Might just leave it for now and start saving for those coilovers Bit gutted though, was hoping anything I could save would be going towards the induction, zorst and remap.

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

Have you checked they are seated correctly? The rubber mounts above the coils that sit in the turret are angled. If they were put in the wrong way round (as I nearly did) the car would sit maybe 5 or more mms too high.

Nah, it's much higher than that! Will put some pics up when I have chance to take some (busy week, big inspection tomorrow).

Re: Lowering a Stilo - Thread Choice

Something definitely not right! What have Koni said? I dont think event the weight of the engine compared to other would make more than a mm or 2. Odd!
You should have a crack at taking it to bits to check. Its soooo easy. Should be even easier now the garage have lossened everything.
